Post processor for a Felder Format 4 machine

Good afternoon HSM PP Forum!

I am looking for a post processor for Autodesk Fusion 360 for a Format 4 CNC workstation machine. The machine is from a company called Felder Group and the machine type is Profit H50. It's a 5-axis machine.

Felder Group:

https://www.felder-group.com/fg-en

This post (link below) describes there is currently not a released post processor for Felder Format 4.

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/hsm/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Is-there-a...

I have contacted the supplier of the machine for help but they have yet to call me back. I will report back here if I am able to find a solution with their help.

Meanwhile I figured I could try and ask for help on this forum. Perhaps somebody here knows an alternative post processor that will do the trick, even though it might not be specifically designed for the type Format 4 machine.

Regards,

Pascal

Hello George,

Thanks for the quick reply! Sadly I don't have easy access to the machine at the moment. I am located in The Netherlands myself and the machine is in Germany on an 8 hour drive for me.

I would love to try out some of the work in progress, and give feedback if I could, but the distance between me and the machine is too much to play around with it. I picked up a CAM side project from a friend in Germany who has access to that machine.

I know that the owner of the machine currently has little time to run tests with the machine. I wish I lived close to the machine right now!

I am not sure if my knowledge about post processors is sufficient to give usefull feedback. But I am happy to assist in any way if you think there is anything I could help with.

Do you know an ETA for the post processor you are currently working on?

Regards,

Pascal

George,

Are you working with the Autodesk team in Germany?

I know they are working on this with the Felder Team.

I ran a test for them a few weeks ago; it worked the same (lacked the same functions) as the H10 PP I downloaded from the forum a year ago.

I have an H08 and I am using the H10 pp with great success. (working around some features that are lacking).

I am available for private emails/phone calls/testing.

I'm getting ready to purchase the H500; so Autodesk/Felder/Myself have motivation for this to work asap.

Thanks,

Leland

Hi guys,

Any development on this one? I'm planning to buy a 5 axis format 4 as well.

Thanks,

Kevin

I use Inventor 2019 and have a Felder H08 (3-axis), the latest PP from George works perfectly with the spindle and drill head.

George would need to respond if/what anything is happening for the 5-axis machines.

George,
Thanks for your hard work.
Is this one much different than the PP I've been running?

Thanks,
Leland

I don't believe there is much different. The post team has done a few minor changes requested by other customers

Hi George,

I have downloaded the post for the Felder Format 4, the parts loads but I am missing variable at the beginning of the program. I have attached a screenshot post from Cabinet vision ( on the left) and a post from Inventor (on the right).  Can you help?

Dominic,

You stated the part loads.

Which machine do you have?

Once it loads, will it run the file?

I am not the CNC operator, I am more the designer.  We can see the part when it loads but as he tries to edit it at the machine the toolpath disappears. The Machine is a Felder Profit 8 Format 4.

Dominic,

First of all; TPAcad inserts several lines of code that is not needed.

I'm not sure what you are trying to edit in the machine.  Or, why would you try to edit something at the machine.

I do everything in Inventor, then Post-Process and run the parts; if an edit is needed, I just open my Inventor file, make the edits and create a new Post-Process TCN file.

Please explain in more detail.

I'll do my best to assist.
