NLX 2500 700 Wrong Retraction Plane output in Drilling Cycle Serious Issue.

Hello,

I am using NLX Post for Fusion 360 , my selected operation is a Simple Drilling Cycle. The Post Outputs incorrect Retraction Height adds a negative height instead of a positive height , this is a serious problem. That can cause a lot of trouble.

 

I am attaching the Post that I downloaded now from the Post Library. 

I am also attaching a dummy file

 

It outputs the following

G83 Z-5.4 R-12(THIS SHOULD BE POSITIVE !) F60.00(THIS SHOULD MM/REV !)

 

I checked the Haas Output and it was stable.

I'm sorry, but I don't speak English.
Also, I have never used a "DMG Mori" machine.

 

When I post-processed it here, it came out as follows.

G83 Z-6.R0.Q1000 F48.97

 

First, I want to correct the "R" value to the following state.

G83 Z-6. R5. Q1000 F48.97

 

The value of "R" for the drill cycle was processed in the upper part of the image.

I changed that part to the state below the image, and now it is output as "R5.".

 

The ones that are affected are "drilling", "counter-boring", "chip-breaking", "deep-drilling", "tapping", "right-tapping", "left-tapping", and "boring".

 

I am not sure what the correct GCode is for drilling the sides of the material.
Therefore, I have attached the f3d file as well.

Hello,

I see those edits , I will make those changes locally and see if it gives a designated output , However this make me think very seriously on how the posts are tested ? , or are they even tested ? at all ? , 

 

To Fusion / Autodesk Team

Past Week some representative from another CAM Provider mentioned that using posts from Fusion might crash your machine ? , Plus for Him he assured his posts are tested for every option at their tech center. Is fusions post also tested same ?

@kandennti , I checked the output of this with my stable Haas Post atleast the values ! , For Tool Orientation Setup / Live Tools , the output of Retraction Plane is Half of what is required for Mori Seiki , on the Haas Post it output R70. , on the Mori Post it outputs R35. , I really am afraid to modify the post output values !.

Also, could you please attach a sample f3d file of the toolpath that outputs R70 for Haas and R35 for DMG mori?

Now I understand what you mean.

 

I found out that R70 and R35 were processed with "demo2.f3d" that I attached.

 

As for "haas", I will try it with "HAAS ST-20Y".

Corrected so that the output is in R70.

 

Also, the value of F has been modified to be output in MM/REV.
However, the output here will look like this.

Is the part that says "The value of F here" also MM/REV?
Should it be G00 and not G01 to begin with?

@kandennti not sure about these formats of drilling cycles , I simply turned off the option "Use Cycles" to eliminate these syntax of cycles. I think someone from Autodesk who controls Post Processor Development must respond on this thread to help understand these issues , Such syntax editing is very unsafe for users who trust Fusion 360.

 

A stable and a tested post is very very important from the CAM provider. 

 

@kandennti thanks for your efforts. I see you are a elite member can you help answer the following question ? or maybe request someone ? to answer the following ?

 

How are the post processors on cam.autodesk.com/hsmposts tested ? , are they even tested ?

The expert elite are just users, just like you, and they volunteer their time.

 

I do not know how the testing is done.
It's probably not run on a real machine.

The NLX machine supports 2 different formats for the Retraction Plane in canned cycles, Standard Format and F15 Format.  Standard Format uses the distance from the initial position (clearance plane) to the retract plane expressed as a radius value.  F15 format uses the absolute position of the retract plane expressed as a diameter value.

The DMG Mori NLX Mill-Turn post currently outputs canned cycles using the Standard Format, but it seems your control is expecting the F15 format.

 

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, we will add a property to the post so that you can easily select the proper canned cycle format for your control.

Hello @bob.schultz ,

Please see my message at the start of the post. The retraction plane issue is on a simple turning - drilling cycle. I think what you have mentioned is for Drilling Cycles using Axial Drilling. 

The Retraction Plane issue is also present in a simple drilling cycle. I checked with DMG and they mentioned what the post is output is certainly not correct. 

 

Please see my first post and subsequent discussion on this thread.

 

You come from Post Processor Development perhaps I can ask you are the posts in fusion tested ?

Hello Bhavar,

 

I have seen your messages in this thread.  The document section that I shared with you applies to all cycles, both with a live tool and with a static tool.  The issue is that the post only supports the Standard Format and should also support the F15 Format, which we are implementing in the post.

 

All post processors that we develop are tested by either the vendor or a customer, depending on who requested the initial post processor.  They are then placed in beta mode  for further testing and announced on the HSM Post Processor Ideas site so that anyone who wants can test the post and provide feedback.

Just asking again : 

A static drill(will not rotate) , that is to drill in center(along the Z Axis). Uses the below code

G0 X0.

G0 Z25.

G83 Z-10. R-20. Q5000 F50.

 

What I think and what my control does and what DMG Has said all aligns.

Z-10. is what I mentioned in fusion (Drill Depth)

R-20. is what I mentioned as Retraction +20. in Fusion (not sure what is Radius and Diameter value in Radial Orientation)

Q5000 is the Peck I mentioned.

 

What control does.

Gets to a Clearance Height (correct)

Drills 5000 Microns (5mm) Deep in Z Axis Motion.

Goes to R-20.mm in Z Axis inside probably inside the part in Rapid

Comes out in Rapid to Z-5.

Feeds in to Z-10.

Goes to R-20.mm in Z Axis in Rapid.

Comes back out in Rapid

 

Are you sure this a F15 ? or a Standard Format behavior ?

If I change R-20. to a R20. The behavior looks stable. This made me ask the Question if the posts are tested or not ?

Anyways let me know. What this format was. Was the behavior I expressed a standard behavior ?
