Mill/Turn Posts for Nakamura or Fanuc

Anonymous
Not applicable

I am looking to post to a dual spindle mill/turn machine (Nakamura AS200L) with Fanuc Control. There is nothing in the post library that fits this requirement. Besides using a similar post and editing myself, is there a 3rd party software that can handle this?

Thanks for helping out.

We currently have a Nakamura Mill/Turn post in Beta (follow the provided link to download it).  Please give it a try, visually checking the output and using extreme care when running it on the machine the first time.

Does this post support simultaneous multi axis machining for a nakamura Super NTMX or NTRX 300?

Hello @Devin.binning,

The Nakamura Mill-Turn Fanuc post does not support a B-axis, so it will not support 5-axis simultaneous machining.

You will need a custom post processor written for this machine if none of the generic posts are providing the required output. I offer post processor development services and happy to work out a solution for your machine! Email me at: [email protected] if still needing assistance.

Hi @johnEM9C5

If it has not been done already, I will be able to customise the generic post to generate the correct output for your machine.

Please send me a message if you would like to make use of my services.

Hi Michael, I have downloaded the Nakamura M<ill/Turn Fanuc .cps post processor but it seems to lack some funtions when it comes to controlling the B axis. For example I am trying to move the B axis forward to grab the component but it doesn't seem to advance without error - now this could be partly that I do not understand yet the commands required to move the axis.

It seems you need an M code 1045 to allow the B axis to cross the interference plane if the chuck is closed (M1046 if chuck is open) - there may also be other codes missing. It would require someone who knows that machine to add these requirements in to the post processor .cps file

What do you think? Best wishes John

Do you have access to any programming documentation for the machine? If we can find the right information I will be able to implement it into the post processor.

I will see what I can find online.

Yes I have all the manuals in pdf format and sample programs that execute the sub spindle advance, grab, synchronised turn for parting and retract (program 1073 attached)

Thanks for these. It looks quite comprehensive. Would you be able to describe when you would need the M1045/6? Would it be prompted by an operation or would it be inserted with a ‘Manual NC’ operation?

It’s just before you move the B axis Subspindle to grab the part so example is..

G0G18G40G54G80G97G99T0101(PART OFF TOOL)
G28U0.
M1045(IGNORE CHUCK BARRIER)
G0G54Z-[#503+#505]M51
G28U0
G359
G0G98B#512(RAPID)

I have been noting other missing routines from the standard Nakamura mill/turn post processor - mainly it’s the subdpindle grab routine and I end up inserting some of the lines of code from the example sent in last message

Hi @komlagudu,

Thanks for reaching out asking for a post processor.
Unfortunately, we don’t build or modify post processors for EspritCAM.
we only Build & modify post processors for Fusion.

My advice is searching for a Esprit reseller in your area who can help you getting a post processor for EspritCAM 2020.

kind regards,

Marco Takx
