Search for this (Possibility of simultaneous 5-axis CAM on threaded part?) in the support forum, it might help.

After much trial and error I've gotten it working. I'm stuck on a 4th axis machine so that compounds issues of course. Much of it is bad geometry and working around fillets that don't actually need to be there (thanks engineer!).

Is this HSMWorks? I had a auger like this a year ago, used 3D Adaptive to ruff and finish it, worked like a dream. Showed it on the forum some time around April\May 2017

I've done so little 4th axis work that I forget there is axis substitution. I'll see if I can find your post. Swarf using 4th axis actually worked pretty well. I did have to simplify the geometry though (suppressing fillets for instance).

Did you try Flow? I had nice results in Inventor HSM with 4 axis limit

I did, with some results on the radius, except the radius is the least important part. I am trying some things on a test model at home today off and on so I will give it another shot and see what I can come up with.

My model was completely round, so no flat walls, so no option to use Swarf, I can imagine that your i different

Stien,

 

here's some pics of the auger using only 3D Adaptive.

1 inch bullnose with a .25 rad.

could not do swarf because blade profile is a radius.
