HSM Bug

Good morning all i had a customer ring me with a bug in Inventor and was wondering if anyone was experiencing the same bug! (see Picture) I am able to replicate in Inventor 2017/2018 with HSM 2018.

Just to add when you change the Bottom selection to "selection" it has referenced the surface selected in the Bottom Reference.

Hi again -

I took a closer look at this, and think I know what's happening.

When you choose "Selection" from the top height dropdown, the "Top reference" selection button should be activated. But that's not happening, so the Bottom Height selection button, which was enabled behind the scenes gets the selection.

If you explicitly click the Top reference arrow button, which should turn it blue, then you'll be able to have your selection applied to the right place.

I'll get this defect reported. Meanwhile, hopefully this workaround will get you going.

This is irritating and it has been like this for quite a while.

I've had the same thing happening. I just have to keep re selecting a few times to get it to work.

I agree this has been an issue for a long time and is very annoying. I hope this will be fixed now! Its not just the top reference. Its every one of them when you change to "Selection" from the drop down it doesn't automatically select the arrow. It defaults to the bottom selection. I get frustrated with it daily.

Hi folks -

This was noted, about a year ago, as CAM-3614. We made an attempt to fix this a short while back, but ran into other issues, so rolled the fix back.

I'm digging into this again, and would love to see us able to make this work as (reasonably) expected, but we need to be careful of other impacts.
