HSMWorks 2014 R3

R2 has just been made public. In the near future will start the beta process for the next 2014 R3 release. We are aiming for a release around mid March.

Some new features include:
Improved Adaptive Clearing.
Improved general performance for HSMWorks and post processor.
New multi-axis tilt for 3D contour.
Improved Distributed CAM.
New turning features.
And more.

René,

Sounds great!
Multi-axis is something we will be stepping into.
And turning is a big one for us. So new features there would be great.
I guess, new dev. releases could be expected from next week?
Thought, I read some where that the chip thinning would be improved as well? Or has that been crossed of the list?
Personally, would like to see some improvement on the continue machining from previous jobs. Is that maybe on the others list?
Is the Adaptive pull-away also for R3, or is that for later?

I just listed the major components. The features like chip thinning can still be updated if we find a good solution.

Pull-away for Adaptive Clearing would be covered by the pending update.

No one can ever say we let any grass grow under the software. Rene will make sure of that. No matter how good it get's, it can always be better.

Rene, there are any plans for R3 to include new HSMWorks API functions like the option to create a completely new operation?

Note sure if we can get that included in R3. We´ll see if we can come up with something.

The first HSMWorks 2014 R3 development release is now available. In this first release we are focusing on updating HSMWorks and the post processor internally so this needs some extra testing - similar to the CAM kernel in the R2 release. The performance of the post processor has been improved so it is even faster. I´ll write about this soon.

We will add additional functionality as it gets ready for inclusion.

Due to the many internal changes it is important to pay extra attention for the generated NC code this time. I mean it! You should not run it without double checking it. Just in case.

Let us know if you find any issues. Thanks.

René,

So we should really be looking for errors in the NC-file. So in the translation between operation and g-code. The operations themselves, haven't really change internally for now?

Everything is expected to work the same as before. But you never know if something unexpected pops up.

Hello, I tried to install version R3.36679, and jumped at the end of the installation error (post.exe or HSMWorks.exe not valid win 32 application).
If you want to repeat the installation and accurately show the error.

Windows XP is no longer supported. SolidWorks also stopped supporting it with SolidWorks 2013.

We will make a new HW and SW windows up during the year ...
We have a license to SW 2013 but still has one PC Windows 32 for compatibility with other programs.
The download page is written: Compatible with SolidWorks 2012 to 2014.
Some time ago I had a problem with HSMWorks on Win XP, but you are repaired.

It is compatible with those SolidWorks versions. Doesn't mean it is compatible with the same OS, as that version. Otherwise you would probably need to be compatible with windows 98. The step away from XP, is a good one since it's no longer supported by Microsoft.

OK, I understood wrong (my bad english).
I know that I have the old operating system, but recently went HSMWorks well on XP, and suddenly it is not.
HSMWorks 2014 R2.36654 goes wrong, that's why I reacted to the development version to correct errors, and XP was already Install in accordance error. Maybe the error might not be the version of the operating system.

Hello,
I tried again to install the latest development version, if it is possible to install an older system Windows XP SP3.
At the end of the installation error pops up (screen 1) and after pressing it comes HSMWorks run.
It seems that the program operates normally only when generating the program pops up another window (screen 2).
  Czech version.
If you replace the progamme files post.dll and post.exe older version HSMWorks generates programs.

Question: It is possible that future versions will nainatalovat HSMWorks correctly on Win XP, or can I use the latest version of HSMWorks with older files post.dll and post.exe?

Tomi,

The post ways were changed from R2 to R3, so becarefull with this! That is what I know, so that's probably why it's starting to fail only now, since these files are no longer made to be compatible with XP, and they probably used to be "old".

René, can probably tell you more, but be carefull with these tricks.

The HSMWorks API has now been extended to provide access to the job and machine configuration and other information.

Thank you very much Rene for your personal effort and your team in extending the existing API! I just take a look to the new functions included and wonder if there is a possibility to create a new operation based on an existing template, or if some workaround can be applied in this idea.
Anyway, really great job!!
