HSM 2020.2 Development Builds Available

Hi all -

We have posted a set of development builds for HSMWorks and Inventor CAM (HSM) 2020.2. These are in advance of an expected official update in a couple of weeks. We would love to hear your feedback on these updates.

Note: Like the 2020.1 updates, these are provided as patches (.msp). The patches should be applicable to any prior (official) release of the 2020 releases, including either the original 2020 release or the 2020.1 update. This patch should now be uninstallable, allowing rollback to the previously installed version.

Here are the details of the download links, as well as release notes. HSMWorks users, please make sure you use the appropriate update based on your license.

Jeff,

It's great to see some updates to Inventor CAM!  I like the new turning features!  There is a bug with turning operations however, that if i go to edit one of the new turning operations and click straight on to the radii tab, it closes the operation window.  I can only edit the Radii tab if i click on the geometry tab first. If i click on any of the other tabs, first before the radii it will close it.

Thanks,

Jason

Hi

I wan to ask, have you changed something in new tool library from feature flags?

I was using new interface for some time. Now after update, new tool library is not for use!!!

All icons are gone. And also I don't see presets. All my recipes are gone!!!

Have you taken a step back?

I assume you're using Inventor CAM. Can you share a screenshot?

sorry for lack of info. I was referring to an earlier question someone had posted to you. I have inserted  the original question below. I seem to be having this exact issue and can not find a resolution. any help would be greatly appreciated thank you. I also included a screen shot of the issue as well.

Hmm. That's not good. Looks like its initialization is getting stuck.

I wonder if you can help me out with something:

Get the tool called "procmon" from : https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/procmon

After downloading and unzipping it, start up Inventor, getting it to the point of showing the tool library (but don't hit the tool library command button).

Startup procmon, and in its filter settings, set "Process Name" to be "Begins With" "Inventor".

Then go back to Inventor and click the tool library button, and wait for procmon to calm down. Then stop the capture (little magnifying glass icon in the toolbar), and save the log, zip it, and send it to me.

Maybe we'll see something that holds a clue.

Are you able to use the TL with the "New Tool Library" feature flag turned off?

Thanks,

  Jeff

Message 10 of 36

thank you for your reply. I have zipped two procmon files, hopefully I did it correctly. also I can use the old tool library, but not the new one. I could however use the new tool library when I had 2020.1 installed also. thank you

Message 11 of 36

Thank you!

What do the 2 procmon logs represent? Are they both from sessions where you did not see tools?

Jeff

Message 12 of 36

I sent two because I wasn't sure if I had done the clicking of the magnifying glass correctly is all. and yes they are both times I did not see any tools.

Message 13 of 36

Got it. Thanks. The logs look good.

Could you also send me the file: C:\Users\sherm\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Inventor CAM\configuration\libraries.json?

Thanks,

  Jeff

Message 14 of 36

here you go.

Message 15 of 36

Thanks again. Could you delete that file, and then restart Inventor and try again?

Message 16 of 36

ok did that and I get the same results. sent a new screen shot also.

Message 17 of 36

OK, got it. I suppose if you open the file you deleted -- which should have been re-created -- it's empty (i.e., looks like the below)?

{
"libraries": [
]
}

Will dig a bit to see whether I can figure out what's happening. Seems like it's not discovering any libraries. Would be nice to see one more procmon log from a session that you run after deleting that file again.

Thanks,

  Jeff

Jeff

Message 18 of 36

ok thank you and here is the new logfile as requested.

Message 19 of 36

and yes the json file did look as you said

Message 20 of 36

OK, got it. Thank you.

I see the same thing happening here if I remove that file.

Can you see what happens if you save this attached file in that location? You should see something, but it appears that there are other problems (e.g., creating new libraries) that we need to dig into.
