Hi all -
I wanted to give you an opportunity to preview the upcoming Inventor CAM and HSMWorks 2020.1 updates, which we are making available as development releases.
A few important things to know about these development releases:
The patch installers are available here:
Inventor CAM: Inventor CAM 2020.1 Update
HSMWorks: HSMWorks 2020.1 Update
I have attached release notes for the updates to this message.
We welcome any feedback you have for these updates, here in this forum.
Many thanks for your interest and support!
Jeff
Hello Jeff,
I have confirmed that both of our Inventor CAM users (Jose above is our customer as well) are using this latest version and both have lost their home position just as Jose (see post before this one) is indicating. Just as a reminder, this is a post engine issue and was found in Fusion 360 as well. Fusion has been fixed already, but not Inventor CAM or HSMWorks(I believe).
I realize it may be a bit to get this done, but I just want to make sure that they know about it. Also, I can't test any of this as we are a reseller; our license won't allow us to use this new version for some reason.
Thanks,
Scott Moyse

Hi Team,
Do you have an ETA on the final release of 2020.1?
And have my recent posts on here regarding issues with this build been logged, just checking because they didn't get a response?
I ask because I have a job coming up where I could do with trying to get the dual channel stuff working in HSM Edit and with this build everything other than basic code editing seems to be broken, so I'll need to roll back to 2019 to get functioning turning with functioning HSM Edit if its going to be a little while longer.

Unfortunately, these patches cannot be rolled back (we are working to fix that). So, if you need to roll back to the 2020 release, you will need to uninstall and reinstall the original.
Jeff
Is this why the patch isn't showing up in the Windows Installed Updates dialog?

Yes, exactly. We're close to having the official update ready, after dealing with several patch-related issues, including this one.
Jeff
Any update as to when the final release of 2020.1 HSMworks will be ready?
The bug in turning stock simulation where the tool doesn't follow the path properly (referenced above) is kinda irritating.
Thanks,
Steve
Glad you asked -- we need to prepare a post for this!
The final builds are posted now, and just need to make their way into the accounts page and the Desktop App.
Jeff
Installation stops on my computer.
HSMWorks 2020 R0.43580
SolidWorks 2017 x64 SP5.0
I can't read or translate that. Is there a way for you to post a translation, or at least copy/pastable text from that message?
Thanks,
Jeff
Windows Installer Error Message Translation:
"The upgrade patch can not be installed by the Windows Installer service because the program being updated may be missing, or because the upgrade patch would update another version of the program. Make sure that the program to be updated is installed on the computer and that you install the correct upgrade patch."
Thank you.
What is your base installation that you're trying to upgrade with the patch?
What you need to have is the official 2020 (R0) release of HSMWorks, and the official 2020.1 update (patch).
If you had installed the interim dev build patch, you need to uninstall that, install the R0 version, and then install the official 2020.1 patch.
Jeff
That is the software installed:
HSMWorks 2020 R0.43580
SolidWorks 2017 x64 SP5.0
I tried both, the 2020.1 update (patch) from my autodesk product page and after that failure i tried the patch from the forum but both showed the same error message.
OK, thank you. Can you share with me the details of the .msp that you're using to apply 2020.1? I'm guessing that you may somehow be using the non-Fusion-entitlement version of the patch, instead of the one that's suitable for the base product you have installed.
I would like to know:
File name
File size
Thank you,
Jeff
HSMWorks_2020.1.0.msp

That looks like the original dev build update. Here's one that (I hope) should work for you:

Dear Jeff,
this file installed perfectly. Thank you very much!
