Entry position is now supported for Adaptive Clearing from HSMWorks 2017 (development release). The entry position feature is relevant when you have multiple options for which side to start the first cut like "double" open pockets / channels. Note that the entry position will still serve as request for ramp position for closed pockets. As always the entry positions are only hints and Adaptive Clearing is free to choose another position if the given positions will not work.
Sometimes you need to control which side to start from for Adaptive Clearing. E.g. if you have mounted the part in your fixture or oriented the part for multi-axis indexing such that the chips are falling (down away from the part), you would prefer to cut from the bottom to top to avoid recutting the chips.
@martin.dunschen implemented this feature so it you have questions about entry positions for Adaptive Clearing let him know.
