Hello,
I would like to ask for advice regarding exporting a Golaem simulation from Maya 2023 into Unreal Engine 5.6.
My scene is 500 frames long (24 fps) and contains around 1000 entities (SoldierRoman_default).
I assume the Golaem plugin does not currently support Unreal 5.6 since it is the latest engine release. I have tried several export approaches, but each comes with issues:
Alembic – the files are extremely heavy and difficult to work with in Unreal.
FBX – with this many entities it becomes quite chaotic, but it might still be a possible option.
USD – seems promising, but I cannot get the meshes with animations to work properly.
I am also open to splitting the scene into multiple files for better efficiency. There are no cloth or complex physics simulations involved.
Could you please advise on the best pipeline or recommended workflow for exporting a Golaem simulation (from Maya 2023) into Unreal 5.6?
Thank you very much for your help, and many thanks to the Golaem team for their great work on the tool.
Best regards,
Tobias Dockal
