The following file name(s) are too long when uploading exising assemblies

When trying to upload an assembly made up of many step files via the data panel "Upload" button, the above error is shown for some of the parts or subassemblies.

Unfortunately, if I rename the highlighted files to be shorter, the processing of the assembly will fail as it sees the referenced files as not existing.
Is there any easy fix for this issue?
Is there any way fusion could implement a "select missing file" feature, similar to when files are missing from an assembly in inventor for example?

Alternatively, is there any way fusion could just truncate the file names after processing to avoid this issue?

Bumping this as I still cannot get this assembly upload to work no matter what I try.
If I upload using the webUI, I don't get the file length error, but it also doesn't translate anything. If I try to open the assembly after uploading it, I still get a "files missing" error in the translation.
