Hello Autodesk Community,
I am writing to express a collective sentiment among woodworking enthusiasts, academic institutions, and small woodworking industries regarding the closed ArtCAM software by Autodesk.
ArtCAM has been a cornerstone for woodworking model generation, editing, and toolpath generation. Its functionality has proven invaluable in academic settings, especially for woodworking education at institutions like NIDs and IITs. Additionally, many small woodworking industries have come to rely on ArtCAM's closed version for their design and manufacturing processes.
Given the exceptional utility of ArtCAM, I propose the idea of integrating its features into the cloud-based Fusion 360 software. This approach not only preserves the capabilities of ArtCAM but also allows for a seamless transition for existing users while leveraging the collaborative and accessible nature of Fusion 360.
Here are some key points supporting this proposal:
Academic Importance:
Industry Adoption:
Increased User Base:
I encourage fellow users to share their thoughts on this proposal. If you have any experiences with ArtCAM or insights into the potential benefits of its integration into Fusion 360, please feel free to contribute to the discussion.
Let's work together to create a woodworking design and manufacturing solution that meets the needs of both existing users and those seeking advanced capabilities in Fusion 360.
Thank you for considering this proposal, and I look forward to a constructive discussion.
Best regards,
Nirav
