Inserting Configured comopnents back into single-user storage

I have a paid subscription for Fusion 360 and wish to use Configurations for gears with a non-standard tooth profile. All my normal Fusion projects are in Single-user storage, but I created a Teams storage for the Configurations.

Is there a way to insert Configured components into the Single-user storage projects? Or do I really have to transfer the projects into Teams-storage to do that?

Hi @micheloudeg, and thanks for posting your question here!

Unfortunately, configurations don't work in any way with Single-User Storage, so any design you want to use them in (via Insert or Derive) must be in a Team Hub.

Even if it's just you using it, there are a lot of capabilities that are only available with Team hubs (especially if you have a commercial subscription), including:

  • Design reservation (if you do work with others)
  • Cross-project references
  • Configurations

  • Standard fastener library

  • Folder permissions

Ultimately, it's your choice at the moment, but there are a few benefits to making the move. If you decide to do that, let me know if you need any help, and I'd be happy to point you to some resources or connect you with someone from the support team if you run into any issues.

Variable gears sound like a great application of configurations, by the way. I'd love to see how you've set that up!
