Hi Fusion 360 Forum,

I'm currently following along to "Tyler Beck of TECH & ESPRESSO" tutorial on "Fusion 360 - Almost Beginner Tutorial - Piston Rod Assembly" (Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xM_djDHkp14). At 6:30 into the video, he creates a new sketch and is able to create a line from the top of the piston head with the "x" icon appearing. When I try to do this, there is no x icon at all. Here are some screen shots. Without X.pngWith X.PNG

Hi @Anonymous ,

Happy to help. That video is a bit older - and back then we used to have a preference enabled by default that auto-projected any geometry into the active sketch plane. Recently, we made this default to be OFF (can be toggled back on in your preferences under Design).

In this case, what you need to do is project the line into the active sketch plane. What this does is create a referenced line (denoted in purple from Tyler's screenshot) that is linked to the geometry. To do this, in Sketch, go to Project and choose the line, face, or body. Then you will have a purple line to snap to.
