Share Public Link option missing from Data Panel

Share Public Link option missing from Data Panel

"Share Public Link" option goes missing from the pop-up menu when right clicking on a model in the Data Panel.

I suspect this may have been after returning from Offline Mode, though the screenshot where the option is missing was taken while Working Online.

This is either a bug or worse, an intentional design decision which is a BIG NO-NO in UI design. The option should be ghosted out in the menu, not utterly gone.

Hi, Thanks for using Fusion.

I was not able to reproduce the issue you mentioned by trying the Fusion to switch to Online and offline.

when in offline mode, datapanel itself will be greyed out, is it not the same case for you.

Regards,

Sasi

Correct, it is not the case for me.

True, some files are greyed out, but not all. And, as I mentioned, this
single option was missing from the menu.

I think it's an issue for the program designers!

Thank you,
Brian

I tried to reproduce that and I am not seeing this kind of issue. what kind of entitlement do you own? Commercial? Education?  Personal/hobbyist?

that would give us some understanding on why this difference.

can you please try the below workflow just to confirm this is not a build issue ( before uninstall and reinstall) f

  • Invoke the web interface from Fusion(or click on https://www.autodesk.com/products/fusion-360/collaborator?/ ) and click access now to go sign in the same credentials you used to enter in Fusion.
  • then once you are in the team you were using, check in the projects and check if "share" option is available there or not.

And FYI, it works in the same way you want.

incase you find it greyed on the web interface, then it means your administrator has put it off..

If you are admin, you can toggle as below:

Once you toggle it ON, then you should find the option of "public share link" in Fusion.

If my post answers your question, please click the "Accept Solution" button. This helps everyone find answers more quickly!

I can't share a picture of my admin page from a360.com publicly.

However, my issue was not with the ability to share from the admin page in an internet browser.

I was simply sharing these screenshots to let the Fusion360 team know that it is possible for options to go missing from menus within the Fusion360 program. I would recommend that if ever an option is unavailable, it should be ghosted out (grayed out), not missing from the menu.

I would not say the problem is solved as we do not know why it happened and there is no guarantee that it will not happen again. I believe I clearly demonstrated the issue with the two screenshots that I shared.

I would kindly request that we elevate this issue to the program developers who are responsible for the user interface within Fusion360. I would like to know what they suspect caused the issue and how they intend to fix it.

It is very difficult for people like you and me to solve these kind of issues if the interface is changing from one user to the next or from one instance to the next. The user interface should be a constant, reliable thing that allows us to compare notes with regards to the program. But if the interface is allowed to change in this way, we have no chance of understanding the source of the problem.

Thank you for your assistance and please let me know how we can elevate this issue.

I can suddenly not share a link to my files publicly now too. I get an alert stating "You cannot share this item because sharing has been disabled by team administrator" at the bottom of the Share public link. I am the admin and the ability to share has been toggled on under admin for the entire time. I also cannot share from the web interface of my files at this time. Has there been a fix established for this? I have contacted my VAR but no response yet. I am a commercial user and fusion is part of my PDM subscription.

Hi team,

Just wondering if this share public link issue has been fixed?

I am also on an educational licence and unable to share any links or even export in f3d.

No ability to generate a link or as an alternative, unable to export in anything other than f3z.

Cheers. Look forward to hearing updates.
