Fusion keeps crashing, simulation shows: "Error calculating stock". No clue why this is happening, but it started with the most recent update.
I'm having the same error when using multiple bodies for my setup model. Is this related to the same issue in the thread or is this new?
@thespaltydog which file in that .f3z folder is causing the issue, and where do you see it; when you create a second Setup?
"From Preceding Stock" does not work with multiple bodies, it's a limitation that isn't going to be resolved any time soon, as far as I'm aware.
@seth.madore I removed the component links in case you can't open the .f3z file. I get the error when I try to immediately simulate. I have one setup that has a single 2D contour toolpath. I'm not sure where "from preceding stock" would be specified?
So after a little tinkering on my end I was able to figure a work-around. Originally, in my setup I had my stock mode set to "from solid" and I specified 3 separate components, which seemed to work fine and the stock dimensions were correct. However, this time I tried creating a new component that covered all of my parts and used that as my "from solid" reference. This seemed to generate everything fine and showed the same overall stock dimensions.
Now when I actually plan to cut these parts for my job, the material will actually be 3 separate pieces. I feel like I'm tricking fusion into thinking my material is one solid piece when in reality it won't be. Below I've added a few screenshots showing what I'm talking about along with my file.
Any guidance on this would be appreciated.
Stock From Solid (3 Component Selections) - Error when simulating tool path
Stock From Solid (1 Component Selection) - No error when simulating tool path
I started having this issue today as well with one of my models. When simulating the whole "setup4" it gives me the error, but simulating each operation individually works just fine and gives no error. Also had to set my spun profile tolerance extremely low for it to pick up the turning profile.
@seth.madore I wanted to follow up on this. Could this be a bug with using multiple component sources with the "From Solid" selection in the setup? Above I showed how this causes an error in simulating, but it functions fine with only using a single component with the "From Solid" selection.
Thanks!
@seth.madore I wanted to follow up and see if this has been researched any further? I'm still experiencing this issue. Please see my earlier comment along with the file showing how to reproduce.
Thanks!
I've not made much headway in the investigation, neither of the files provided produce any such error 😞
Would you mind saving a copy of the file with no error and sending it back to me? Not sure if that will change anything on my end but it's worth a try.
Just so we're on the same page, either of the files shared by you above should have produced an error straight away, with no other selections or settings?
Yes that is correct. If you clicked on the setup (or toolpath) and hit simulate, you would get an error immediately saying "Error calculating stock". This was the case even until last night. However, as I'm checking the file now I'm no longer getting that error and can simulate successfully.
I didn't make any changes on my end, so it seems like this might have solved itself. 😂 Regardless, I think I'm good to go now!
EDIT
I just got the error from another file I have and I found what caused it. When selecting the bodies "From Solid" in my setup, I hovered over each component and it selected what would appear to be the solid box each component would be in, however it was actually just selecting the component. If I expanded the browser on the left hand side, and turned on my solid stock bodies and selected those directly in the browser everything simulated with no errors.
Selecting components directly in the working area. See "Stock Solid" says the component name showing the component has been selected. This produces an error when trying to simulate the toolpath.
Selecting the "Stock" component I created to simulate the rough sized material the pieces will be cut from. By selecting these in the browser directly the full component is not selected like the previous screenshot. I receive no errors when trying to simulate this way.
