Press Pull problem.

I work with quite a few imported files and use press pull to remove or change the height of features. Sometimes I start a press pull then select a face to extrude to but the faces don't merge, if I edit the press pull and try again it will work, see screencast, file's attached. If you use measure with precision set to All when it fails there is a height difference!

Thanks Mark

Hi @HughesTooling

Thanks for posting! I was able to recreate the issue from your screenshot in the file you attached. I believe this behavior is due to the the current tolerance of for the ASM kernel in Fusion - if you measure the actual height of the extrusion being press pulled is 0.8016000000000006 mm rather than 0.802mm. This could be due to the translation process for the imported documents, as the very small difference could be due to noise in calculations (assuming the modeled size in the imported document is exactly 0.802).

I also noticed that the measured height difference when the faces are not merged is equal to the difference between the entered press/pull distance and the measured feature height before editing.

It seems like sometimes Fusion is able to automatically round the height and merge the faces but sometimes the calculation does not see the faces at the exact same height. We are aware of these types of issues occurring due to the ASM tolerance - luckily they are small enough to not effect nearly all manufacturing processes. I found that the faces will merge every time if you measure the distance using the Inspect>Measure tool, copy that result to the clipboard, and paste the exact measurement value into the Press/Pull dialogue.Screen Shot 2017-06-14 at 11.41.07 AM.png

Hopefully this helps! Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks Paul, Perhaps I should add I'm working on mould tools and adding shrink rates so I get odd number like this a lot. Odd it always works on the second attempt, this is probably quicker the using measure. Using Extrude with distance set to To works but because of draft angles I can't always use extrude, pitty Press Pull doesn't have a To option.
