Preferences lost on startup

Hi all,Hopefully this isn't too similar to another issue I saw - seems a bit different to me.

I'm new to Fusion, and having installed the software I've noticed I lose my preferences every time I run it. I also notice it displays the teams prompt while loading, and the new update banner once open (screenshot attached). It always relates to the same update, I've checked (Jan 29 2020, V2.0.7421)

I also now face the same issue on my laptop, having tried to also use Fusion on there (same account). This happens without fail when I run the program on either PC. Both are Win10, latest version 1909, build 18363.628.

This has mostly worked for me, and is certainly acceptable for now.

One issue I didn't realise initially was that the program doesn't remember that I want it to load full screen. I put this down to the introductory messages before but it appears that's not the problem.

It's a minor gripe I know, but I can't keep wearing out my desk having to reach for the maximise button...

[Edit: I'm hesitant to mark the posed solution as accepted given that it doesn't work for some people here]

Hello ehch44,

I am sorry to learn the workarounds are not helping you. We will be posting a new update with the code fix within days but in the meantime, can you please send us your diagnostic logs so we can understand better why these workarounds didn't fix the issue for you?

Hello all,

We just pushed out a fix that will take care of this problem. You should start seeing the option to update your Fusion now. Please let us know if you continue to see this behavior after applying the update.

Thanks for your patience while we worked through this issue.

Hi, had similar issues. Set "Tool Library" preview feature to "OFF" and setting it back "ON" was never persisted, even across machines. It was a nightmare for couple of months since new Tool Library feature is vastly superior to the old one and it's among things I use the most.

What worked for me was:

  1. Close Fusion
  2. Edit the options file to desired state (%appdata%\Autodesk\Neutron Platform\Options\*\NGlobalOptions.xml) and save.
  3. Set the options file to read-only.

  4. Start Fusion
    1. make sure the desired setting is there
  5. Logout (don't know if this was necessary)
  6. Restart Fusion
  7. Login
  8. voilà, setting persisted

I'm fairly certain that setting the file to read-only is what did the trick, because it seems that on Fusion start it forces some of the settings into the file. Surprising thing is that the read-only flag disappears after Fusion start so I guess Fusion still modifies it at some point

Nevertheless, this worked for me, so good luck with your battle against preferences.

Hi there,

I'm a new user to Fusion 360 and I'm encountering the same problem. Specifically, when doing schematic design work after reopening the application it always loses my grid settings and other preferences.

Any suggestions? I tried the suggested .xml file replace but it didn't make any improvement.

Thanks in advance.
