Macbook Pro 2019 - Fusion 360 low performance in loft-mode

Dear all,

I'm facing an issue on my Macbook Pro 2019 using Fusion 360.

Always when I'm doing lofts (no matter whether it's in the solid or surface environment) it's really lagging. When I try the same on my Windows PC I face no issues and everything works very smooth.

Is there anything I can adjust in the settings? Or is this a bug?

Thanks a lot for your help!

BR,

Simon

BTW: I just noticed that the issue is only, when I'm using the Macbook Trackpad. As soon as I use another mouse device (I have a 3D connexion Spacemouse) then it is working without lagging.

So I think there must be a bug with using the trackpad...

Yes, I see the same thing, but it's not limited to the loft screen.

Whenever Fusion 360 needs to re-draw these labels the viewport performance takes a pretty severe hit.

When you navigate with the mouse or the 3D Spacemouse redrawing the labels is temporarily disabled until you stop moving the part. When moving the part with the trackpad Fusion 360 tries to redraw these labels continuously, which is what slows viewport performance.

@ryan.bales is that something that can be looked at ?

Yes its been looked at before and in my opinion something we should look at more but i'm not sure its as simple as that. Its likely we should tag in @Phil.E  as he is one of the most familiar with the trackpad.

@siousu good catch. Thanks for letting us know.

This is now reported as a bug. The labels are definitely the problem. Thanks @TrippyLighting for pointing that out.

The solution is easy. Buy a normal mouse with a scroll-click wheel 😉

For serious work, I don't think there is a real replacement for a mouse.

I haven't tried it yet, but I bet the native trackpad addin would defeat this too.
