Issue with dxf - flat pattern

Dear F360

I have problems to create cutting dxf, specifically, the dxf contour does not exactly match the solid. The slots are rectangular, and the inclined parts are incorrect, where am I wrong? All my files have the same problem............
Thanks in advance!

Hi @crispatta

Thanks for posting! It looks like you are having some issues with a DXF file in Fusion 360.

What method are you using to create the DXF? I had a look at the attached file and found that the geometry from your sketch was accurate (when imported back into into Fusion 360) when I created a DXF file by right clicking the sketch and selecting "Save as DXF." I did not see any CAM operations in your file, but I also found that a DXF created by using the DXF post processor kept the geometry exactly as well.

Are you seeing these errors after opening the DXF in a different program? Fusion 360 outputs a R14 DXF file version by default - some other programs can have issues with this filetype. I have discussed a similar issue with DXF versioning in this thread. It could be that the program you are opening the DXF in cannot read the R14 file version. In this case, using the post linked above or an intermediary program that gives DXF export options should allow you to get it in a format that can be used by the program you are seeing errors in.

This issue has also been discussed on the Ideastation at this link - perhaps the Qcad workaround presented in the comments there will work if you do not have access to AutoCAD!

Hopefully this helps! Please let me know if you have any questions.

Dear F360
I have problem yet, the problem does not exist for a little time,
after some dxf creation the problem come back.
If I restart F360 the problem disappear and I can save other 3-4 dxf
but, after that, I have to restart F360 yet.
I enclose 2 files, one before restart and one after.
Thanks in advance.

Hi @crispatta

Thanks for the response! To clarify - are these DXFs incorrect when opened in Fusion 360? It does not look like any files were attached to your previous post - if you'd like to attach them I am happy to have a look.

I tried recreating this behavior on my end but was unable to - all the DXF files exported identically from Fusion 360 for me. To try recreating this I would like to have a look at your workflow and one of the specific Fusion 360 designs in which this issue has occurred. Would you mind sharing one of the Fusion 360 designs (instead of the DXF file) in which you have noticed this behavior with me? It may also help us look into this behavior if you could capture the incorrect DXF export in a screencast and attach the video to this forum thread.

Hopefully this help us get started! Please let me know if you have any questions.

I enclose files may be can explain you the "strange" behavior.

If they will be not enough, I will make a movie.

Thanks

Hi @crispatta

Thanks for the response! It does not look like any files were attached to your last reply - would you mind trying to re-attach them to a new reply? I am happy to have a look!
