Importing Face Groups, as an alternative to Generate Face Groups

Does Fusion 360 support import Face Groups? If yes, how can I make them?
I have knowledge in 3dsMax and other software where I can prepare a mesh in all kinds of ways before exporting it.

The whole idea is that in eg 3dsMax, I do have much better control over the mesh and it would be way easier to generate Face Groups there.

I noticed if the mesh is split already, ie two elements, then each of the elements will come in with its own Face Group. However, it is not sure everyone wants to have separate elements when importing.

Hopefully, someone has a better solution

Solution:

Combine > Operation: Merge

= result combined mesh, but still open

Generate Face Groups

= results in a welded mesh!
