I'm trying to make a garage door track, but I can't assemble it correctly...

This is driving me insane.

I have a garage door track.

In that track I have a wheel with an axle.

That track turns 90 degrees, but I can't seem to direct my wheel to follow the path of the track beyond a slider that is constrained to a single axis.  The wheel component will slide along the straight track, but as soon as the 90 degree 12" radius track is reached, it stops and won't follow the track.

I can get the wheel to slide back and forth in a straight track as a slider joint, but when it approaches the 90 degree turn, it just moves through it and continues on the same path.  If I create a contact set for the wheel to the track, when it gets to the 90 degree turn it just locks up.

How do I make a garage door that will open and close following the track path?

If helps if you share your sketch so we can show you how to fix that (if it's not confidential).

Wasn't sure how to do that.

Hi @jonYDM8U  a long shot, but did you ever resolve this? I’m also trying to model a sliding garage door track.
Cheers, Ben

@ben6SY27

I suspect there is a technique in Fusion, but I would use Autodesk Inventor Professional >Dynamic Simulation for this.

Are you a student?

Thanks for the suggestion - unfortunately I’m not a student and can’t justify spending that much on a one-off job for my home.

I’ll try a few more things that I’ve seen people suggest with Fusion 360 before giving up 🙂
