How do I upload files from a site like thingiverse

First of all thanks for taking the time to help me. I am extremely new to Fusion 360 and im not even done with the tutorials. I wanted to edit a file from thingiverse but when I tried to open it after uploading it would only show a preview in my internet browser. I took it through another CAD program to convert It to an OBJ file and now it opens in fusion but its entirely made of mesh. So my question is either A: how do I open an STL from thingiverse or B: how do I convert something made of mesh to faces that I can turn into bodies and components.

Thanks a ton for the help -Matt

In my screencast I show how I convert a STL file to a body.  The surface facets are still showing.  I also show you one of my ways to use surfaces to get rid on the surface facets on some of the features.  This does not work on all models.

I tried what you suggested (convert mesh to b-rep) but it keeps warning me that I have to many facets and then it aborts the operation. Is their another way to do it or is their a way to use the mesh model as a template to make a solid body over top of it? Thanks again for the help -Matt

You can copy - reproduce in Fusion articles,

Load the Mesh, then use

Sketch > Mesh > Create Mesh Section.  This will supply section views of the mesh on a sketch plane of your choosing,

Then Sketch > Mesh > Fit Curves to Mesh Section, will make Sketch Articles that are std Fusion Sketch articles,

Might help....

Try using myminifactory. It is much more easy to use.

You can use MyMiniFactory, which has been in existence since 2013. That is a sustainably developed site, starting with carefully selecting and testing the 3D layout choice before opening up to cooperation with even more 3D developers, enabling them to show their ideas openly.

The availability of prints is varied and reasonably priced (approximately 60,000). Except for Thingiverse, MyMiniFactory asserts that each file must transfer a software inspection and be displayed by society before it has published, reducing printing mistakes. Here are some more alternatives.
