Fusion 360 performance issues when using external monitor on Mac

Hi,

I noticed a bad performance when using Fusion 360 on my MacBook Air M2 even after the summer update when Fusion 360 was updated to apple silicon chips.

So I noticed the performance loss happen when I am connected to my external monitor (34" 4k@60Hz), while using just the laptop Fusion 360 works just fine.

Anybody nows a solution or is experiencing the same issue?

4K resolution, in conjunction with Retina scaling, High-Resolution Canvas Graphics, and Anti-Aliasing can be very taxing on the GPU, even with an empty canvas.

Could you please try toggling off Anti-Aliasing and see if the framerate improves? You can do this either under the application Preferences under the Graphics section, or within the Canvas' navigation toolbar under Display Settings > Effects.

Hi!

Thanks for the quick answer.

Unfortunately I couldn’t found that settings under the graphics menu in preferences.

Hi @dserrano_torres, sorry for the confusion. It's called Anti-Aliasing under the Display Settings menu in the navigation bar. Under Preferences > Graphics > Display, it is disabled as part of checking the box labeled "Limit effects in high-resolution graphics."

Hi,

Thanks for the help, it definitely helped with the UI performance when using my external monitor.

I still find the performance of operations and mesh transformations pretty slow, nevertheless it make sense a MacBook Air M2 won't perform much better on this.
