Escape key does not function like it used to

I have been using Fusion 360 for many years and have developed a muscle memory of using escape to cancel drawing things in sketches. It used to be that if you start drawing lines and then hit escape all lines that have both points are retained and the next one is canceled (same thing the check mark does), and that if you started drawing anything but don't finish, hitting escape will cancel it.  escape will still deselect and it will still deactivate the active tool, but as soon as I start drawing something escape no longer cancels it.

Was this intentionally removed, if so why? is it a bug? is there a setting somewhere that randomly got changed? It is really annoying me that I have to right click to cancel now.

There must be something else going on here.  ESC works for me the same as it always has, and I'm fairly certain that this code has not changed in years.

not exactly sure what the problem was, I ended up restarting fusion for a different reason and now its working... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.  hopefully that was just a one time thing.

I came up similar bug yesterday. I've been using F360 for years and it's the first time I've experienced it. First I thought that my keboard was broken. But Esc key worked just fine in any other app. Restarting F360 solved the problem. For now.

I also have this problem, only started within the past couple of months as well. Restarting doesn't change the behaviour, and I agree, it's quite annoying.

Escape not working. Mac Os Ventura 13.4 with the latest Fusion360, not sure when it started. But having to click on other things to be able to exit an orbit or re-aligning the model so can't just escape orbit and select the item I was trying to select to fillet for example. Restarting Fusion 360 doesn't help, resetting computer doesn't help.

on further investigation it seems like it doesn't work in other applications either.

Same thing happened to me today.

The escape key suddenly stopped working, restarting fusion gives me a message that I'm all up to date so there must have been an update going on in the background.

But ... it then immediately tells me I need to restart for yet another update and now the cursor acts really slow. As soon as I start drawing lines, Fusion's cross hair cursor lags 1 second behind on the mouse cursor.

Lots of small issues like this (especially speed/UI response) issues seem to be happening to me lately

Hmm...

I restarted my PC and got yet another message that I am set up with the latest update. That is 3 times within 15 minutes ???

At least the mouse cursor seems to be responsive again. But I have to say that Fusion 360 is the only program giving me a lot of these issues on my PC. No idea what is happening but I am starting to dislike Fusion more and more.

These little issues get to a point where I am not able to do my work in a normal way anymore.

Well... I'm back again.

Somehow the escape key worked but suddenly the escape key stopped working just a few minutes ago.

So I closed Fusion and started it again. Now the escape key works again (but for how long ???)

Silly thing is that it now immediately tells me there is an update and I need to restart.

What the ... I just switched my PC on this morning and was working in Fusion for 30 minutes or so before ...

Please please please, Autodesk. Get your stuff done properly. Why are there multiple persons complaining about the excape key behaviour (and some other things too). I've been asked by a few people who use other programs if it is not time to switch to Fusion 360 and then I tell them about all these little issues I (and not I alone) have ...

To be honest ... all CAD programs do have quirks that we need to work around.

But at least with other programs I do not get updates every week or so, so the issues that are there are things we get used to. With Fusion 360 there are new issues popping up (and disappearing too) with each update

They've definitely done something. I've had it happen, and also, you might have noticed the "tick" that used to appear near where you left a point when drawing a line has changed behaviour. Sometimes it is there, other times not, and sometimes miles away! And of course, that tick does the same as escape does (used to?), so someone has been messing with the code!

Also having this issue. My esc key only works when I hold it down for a few seconds. Like many others in this thread I'm desperately looking for a solution as this is extremely detrimental to productivity and quite annoying. Please reach out if you know why this is occurring or how I can fix this issue!
