Components hanging vertically

I might be asking for the impossible here.

I would like to animate a set of weighing scales.

I have a joint for the arm and joints on both ends of the link.

When the arm is tilted I would like the bowl to stay vertical, is this even possible.

You can do that with Assemble > Motion Link.

Select the the 2 joints, enter a ratio value 1 to -1 or 360 to -360

Set the minus sign to the respective joint as required.

3 joints - 2 Motion Links.

Might help....

Thank you for your help, could I impose and ask if you have any thoughts on how to make it work in the animation space. I can get the arm and bowls to move but yet again the bowls joints are locked. even though they behave correctly in modeling space.

Thanks Matt

Select the joints.

Along the timeline - set the sweep angle - for each joint, timing will be identical, values used in the Design space will have to be converted.

Might help....

Do you mean -

Animate Model from the Joint right click menu, (works)

Motion Study from the Assembly Menu, (use + / - 35 degrees)

or the Animation Workspace? (For movie export)
