Can no longer snap to geometry when drawing a sketch

I've found that I can no longer snap to external geometry that is not perfectly flush with a sketch plane. I relied heavily on this feature since I often find myself using existing components in the project as a reference when drawing new sketches. Using the "Include 3D Geometry" tool is not suitable for this task because snapping still doesn't work as long as the lines are not flush with the sketch plane.

EDIT: Huh, turns out that the "Project" tool works. Bit of a roundabout and inefficient way of doing things, though.

@Anonymous - can  you check the state of the "auto project edges on reference" preference in the Design tab?

I suspect that this has gotten un-checked, and that if you turn it on, you will again get the behavior that I think you want.

Yeah, the setting had been unchecked. No idea why, I've never even touched that tab.

Same same. Certainly never unchecked this one. It's an update thing for sure.

Think the last update changed to have that setting default to off. Perhaps it shouldn't have changed existing installs, but most experienced users turn it off because you end up with a lot of unneeded projections with it on.

Hi there, I am trying to draw a perpendicular line between two curves but I cannot get the line tool to snap to either of the curves.

The curve line and the curve profile do not appear to be aligned and the line tool is snapping to the curve profile rather than the curve line.  But obviously, snapping to the profile does not create closed geometry. Below are two screen grabs - the first shows where the line tool wants to snap to and the second shows the mis-aligned profile.

Any assistance would be hugely appreciated - driving me nuts!
