Browser keeps disappearing

With the latest update (2.0.12157), I'm getting weird behavior with the browser window--it keeps disappearing. I've toggled the browser on and off, and quit and restarted the program with the browser showing several times. I can get it to show up, but the moment  I click anywhere on the workspace the browser window disappears. Not sure if this is a bug or if something got toggled accidentally in a menu I'm not familiar with.

Yes this is expected. Only minor improvements made it into this update. The rest is work in progress. Thanks for the detailed update.

Just to add my 2p(cents 🙂 worth to this really annoying issue :-))

I'm running Mac Catalina 10.15.6 on a 27" iMac and am having exactly the same issues.

I'm running spaces as normal - all the apps have their own space and I command-tab betwixt the spaces (I very seldom drag apps around).

If I command-tab to the fusion workspace, the browser and nav bar will disappear. If I control-right arrow betwixt the apps (ie switching spaces rather than switching apps) and continue to the fusion space, then the browser and nav bar appear again and will stay locked until I command-tab away and back again - in which case they will disappear. Hope this might add to your conFusion :-))

It seems to be a difficult problem since even the most recent version doesn't work in full screen mode on macOS. Most of the UI moves to full screen but it leaves the browser and other parts back on the origin screen.
Also, is the fact that Fusion UI is now present on all desktops part of the workaround you enabled? It's better than before but definitely not ideal.

I definitely don't get the Fusion UI on all desktops (u mean 'spaces' ?) - just the one space it is allocated to.

Also, in full screen mode, I don't have any issues with parts of the UI remaining as I move spaces (via command arrow or command tab).

It's such a great program and as it's available on Mac - and even better, to geriatrics like me free, LOL, I have nothing to complain about really !!!

I don't use it commercially.

Don't know how you accomplished that, but what I discribe is a well known problem. Especially the issue with fullscreen mode that is now completely disabled on windows and sorta crippled on macOS. The real issue is that Fusion on either system isn't a native app but running in a python-runtime-environment with all the problems that gives. It's nice that its multi-platform and I do appreciate that it is even available on Mac where professional CAD is far between, but it is rather buggy in its integration with the OS.

I too see this issue all the time. How I get around it (when using a separate desktop) is that I use the F3 key on the Mac, click on the Browser window and it comes right back to the front. Kind of a pain but it is fast and it works. I suspect this is a very hard thing for Autodesk to fix, it’s probably an incompatibility with how Mac OS works now after recent updates (never used to happen before).

I've just been digging a bit more into this issue 🙂

For me, what causes the problem in the first place is command+TABing to go to another application within another space - that's the quick way for me - I usually have my apps allocated to their own space/desktop to avoid clutter. Either that or simply selecting an app in another space. You then need to actually USE the other application otherwise the issue doesn't arise. When you then command+TAB back to F360 (or select it in the dock), the browser will disappear.

However, if you use exposé (F3 or fire up the exposé app) to show all apps in the current desktop then click on the orphan browser window, it WILL come back, BUT if you click anywhere in the design window of F360, it will instantly disappear again, so this solution doesn't work permanently (for me at least :-)))

If you ctrl+right arrow away to the next desktop then ctrl+left arrow back again, the orphan browser window will return permanently - this simply switches spaces/desktops and then back again.
Alternatively, use Exposé (F3) to select another desktop from the list of displayed desktops at the top of the screen then select the desktop containing F360.

If all your apps are in the same space/desktop, then the issue doesn't arise of course - this was proposed as a 'solution' by the F360 team :-))

Update, simply activating any other app/window/desktop background within the SAME space/desktop as F360 will fix it too - that's a better 'solution' methinks :-)) That's assuming you're not in full screen mode where you can't see anything else of course LOL :-))) I guess a small applescript that does that and attached to a spare mouse button might be another quick workaround (you are all using a real Logitech mouse and not the toy Prada ones supplied by apple :-))

Windows full screen works perfectly, AFAIK. Can you describe this, perhaps we missed a test case that you know of.

I was referring to full screen where you can't see or access to click through to anything in the background to re-activate the F360 browser.

However ! I just checked something - when F360 is in full-screen mode, the issue doesn't occur ! You can jump betwixt desktops with no issues (AFAICS 😁 )

But what you mention about full screen, are you saying the whole UI issue is defeated by running in full screen to begin with?

Yes, that's correct - even when tabbing back and forth between desktops, as long as the F360 window is full-screen, the browser just stays there. I'm using Catalina 10.15.6, haven't checked it on any of my other Macs.

All, someone may have already said this but the browser reappears and, more importantly, remains visible after coming back to the Fusion 360 virtual desktop after a quick visit to another open document.

I now always have two or more designs open, one of them empty. When I come back from another desktop, I simply click the tab of the empty design and then back to the one that I'm working on.

The only issues with this workaround are that it can get a little annoying with frequent visits to other desktops and that this little panel at the bottom of the Fusion 360 screen remains missing:

It turns out that to get this panel displayed again, jumping to another application on the desktop occupied by Fusion 360 is required. Confusing but I'm not so bothered about it as I only rarely need it anyways.

In any case, at least the simple workaround with another open document helps with the bigger problem with the critical browser.

Have you tried running Fusion in full screen mode? I'm interested in hearing if that workaround solves all the possible cases such as the one you describe.

Yes, if F360 is in full screen mode, the browser and the other panel with viewports/display settings (not sure of the official name:-) are always available, they never disappear.

However, if the screen is set to normal and the browser is missing and you then go into full screen mode, it remains missing and you have to find some way of activating another app/doc/desk or something in the same desktop environment behind F360 to get it back.

TBH, now that I know how to quickly get it back in either mode, it's not a big deal - it would be nice if it were fixed, but as I'm far too old to pay for an F360 licence, then I'll happily put up with it :-))

Sorry, I can't seem to find the thread where it was mentioned. I remember it being somewhat official. Maybe it was only related to the insiders build and/or windows 11.

Still experiencing this problem and it's made worse when using multiple screens. I know some folks have said that they "don't mind"  the workarounds but I would like to see this fixed as a paying customer these usability issues are beginning to make me think about alternative solutions.

When can we expect a fix?

I can only add to have the same issue. For me it happens when I swipe (two fingers on the trackpad) between screens having Fusion in full screen.

My process; cmd + S followed by a cmd + Q and open Fusion again... It's "annoying" having to restart every time is happens.

I'm having the same issues running a Studio Mac. I have found that if I have two designs open at once, I can switch between them when the browser disappears on one of them and when I switch back it will have returned. I'm also using multiple "desktops" in the OS.
