Best way to split a shape into layers with straight edges?

I have sort of a wavy object. I’d like to recreate it in 2d shapes in plywood on a shopbot.
every way I’ve found to split up my wavy object yields layers with wavy edges I can’t right, or 30 profiles I can’t extrude in one go.
is there a good way to do this or do I just make 60 profiles and extrude them one by one?
