Why is Fusion orientating my sketch view wrong?

I hope I'm just missing something very simple, but I've been using Fusion for a long time and I never remember having this issue until today.

If I create a sketch on the normal bottom plane, and extrude upwards, I have a circle. Perfect. Camera view is in the proper orientation.

Now I'm going to create a sketch using that top surface as a sketch plane like so:

After I create the sketch, Fusion rotates my view by 180 degrees! WHY!? This is so annoying and doesn't make any sense. I don't ever remember this happening. Every time I do a sketch on top of an object, it keeps defaulting to the rotated view.

This issue occurred after a recent update.  It has been reported on the Forum many times and hopefully, the Fusion 360 team is addressing it and will fix the issue soon.  If you want to stop it now, your best bet is to disable the Auto Look at Sketch and do this operation manually using the Look At command.

Hi,
the behavior has been around for a while, but it only occurred occasionally.
In the last days it is reported again and again.
I help myself as shown in the screencast, would also be interested in a "real" solution.

Well I'm glad I'm not going crazy!

I swear the last few months of Fusion updates have been riddled with bugs. After using Fusion for an entire day different small issues keep popping up. Just a few more I can remember:

  1. When selecting timeline feature, sometimes it's almost impossible to un-select it.
  2. Renaming items revert back to the previous name within seconds
  3. Driven dimension box popping back up even after selecting "Don't show me this again"
  4. "File in use" when trying to delete projects. File management within Fusion has always been a pain, but it's been even worse as of late.

Just thought I might add a few things in case anyone sees.

Cheers,

Yes, I appreciate the information. I done your workaround and it immediately solved the problem. I only posted my issue here so maybe if enough of us complain Autodesk will fix it.

So i tried following your fix and my LOOK AT button does not work the same way. not sure as to why. If im looking at my sketch and its backwards, it keeps my sketch exactly how it is. It doesnt rotate like yours does. And on top of my fusion rotating my sketch the 180 from the top view. Mine also flips my sketch upside down so now im looking at the bottom of my sketch. It drives me nuts. Any chance you have any idea as to why thats happening?

Appreciate it.

2 years later, and I'm still having this issue.  While in the middle of a sketch, I want to reorient my view to make sure I'm looking at something head-on (I'm probably off by a few degrees on both axes), then I click "Look At" to find myself ass over tea kettle (on the side, upside, backwards, somewhere else in the sketch, and zoomed way in).  "Look At" should probably only adjust your incident viewing angle (tilt forward/backward, left/right).  If I wanted to be somewhere else in the sketch, rotated 90 degrees, and looking from the other side, I'll navigate myself there.

Still happening, anyone know if uninstalling and reinstalling fusion sets it back to normal somehow?  Just randomly started to be the new norm about a month ago and is driving me crazy. Have attempted reporting as a performance issue through the app. Hopefully someone looks at it one day.

Still having the same issue on my system. I have tried reinstalling and stays the same. i have tried the "look at button" and still does not orientate correctly. Are there any more work arounds out there apart from switching off "Auto Look At Sketch" ???

Hi, same problem. I don't know when it started and I don't know how to fix it. I updated Fusion 360 2 days ago but the problem remains. I asked to the Assistant and searched on the web and often appears to uncheck the "Auto look at sketch", but I can't find this option in any tab at all.

Suggestion?

It's really frustrating.

Thanks
