Why is Fusion 360 such junk?

Fusion 360 is one of the worst software applications I have used in 40 years. It is RIDICULOUS. I started with AutoCAD 35 years ago. Why is the program not the same thing? Why is EVERY convention DIFFERENT? Why are none of the keyboard shortcuts existing anymore?
Why do things get locked I have not selected to be locked?
Why do I have to start with a sketch? Isn't this on a computer? Aren't computers smart? Why can I not draw a solid and the computer figure out the sketch?
Is automation lost on you people?
I made an ENTIRE part in Rhino3d in 90 minutes. I have not even gotten past 1 plane sketch in Fusion in 2 hours because nothing moves after I place it. STUPID CRAP. Just STUPID.

My favorite thing to underscore how stupid this program is... nobody can answer a question without a screencast. Never have I seen a program put together so badly that regular users cannot picture what is going on with another person's install, without a video. THAT is how bad this software is. You cannot even IMAGINE where someone is in the app... because nothing is common and occurs naturally and with an obvious timeline.

I can confirm the application has generally gotten much worse. Is the application more "stable"... maybe yes.. maybe no. It depends on your definition of the word "stable" in this context. According to autodesk, and all the fanboys, it's the best thing ever and the price should be hiked up at every opportunity. According to anyone in a professional setting working under real deadlines, and trying to get things done.. Absolutely not.

The biggest complaints i have, and see others having are:
Random crashes (still happen, while less frequently than in the past. )
undue reliance on *waves hands mystically* THE CLOUD
Constant slow, or sluggish interface (we definitely need the ENTIRE application to slow to a crawl every day because somewhere, in the background, an update may be available)
The completely amount of ignorance required to believe that pushing and pulling files from off-site servers is somehow better than just working on local files is ASTONISHING to me.

I keep using this software for my own personal things at work. But i would NEVER deploy this in any real-world production or design house. The constant, incessant slow down in work at every turn from the plethora of little annoyances, bugs, and quirks just makes it untenable. The idea of making a user-friendly, quick cad/cam package was a great idea, all the way up until the point at which some C-Suite idiot said "What about *THE CLOUD* can we use that, i hear it's all the buzz". at that very moment, this project should have been shelved.

I have to agree, I'm getting to the point of ditching fusion and going elsewhere. Every update causes issues, so frigging slow, crashes constantly. Items that use to work fine before now don't. You raise issues that never get fixed but the price increases all the time. This program was great 4 years ago. now its just a pain to use daily. I have a high end computer but larger projects struggle, hang and crash. Its getting worse not better. Fusion fix this or your goin to loose customers, listen to us instead, fix the basic instead of trying to make more money!

Good morning @jerryNYCB8

What do you gain by ranting your issue's and filling our inbox's with this garbage?

Now onto your issues:

Could I ask for the specs of your laptop, I'm presuming your CPU is high end, but what's your RAM capacity.

Secondly, could you share a file where you experience these issue's I'd be happy to record myself using these files on my old windows laptop and my new MacBook to show that this may be a local error rather than an error on Fusion's side. Conversely if there is an issue with Fusion or the file such as corrupt file issues, I'm sure we can tag the correct Administrator to help you out on a separate thread.

Also if any of these apply to you, then we may have your issue:

  • Are your graphics drivers up to date?

  • Are you running Fusion off local storage or from a network/cloud drive?  (I mean like do you mainly use web or app fusion)

  • What version of Fusion are you currently on?

  • Do the crashes happen with all files or only large/complex assemblies?

  • Are you using any add-ins, scripts, or custom tools that could be causing instability?

  • Have you tried running Fusion in offline mode to see if performance improves?

  • What operating system are you on, and is it fully updated?

I hope we can help, and can you also point out which parts aren't working as I'm sure this can all be resolved quickly and smoothly.

Kind regards

Ricky

It's my post to moderate, if you have nothing of benefit to add. I'm really tired of people like you.
The MAJORITY of people that don't have the adobephallus, agree WITH ME.

If you don't know how to block stuff from your inbox... lol...

Didn't know people got younger than me on this forum?

If you’re here to vent, that’s fine, but insulting other users isn’t helping your case. This is a community forum for troubleshooting, not a place to throw abuse. If you actually want help with Fusion, share your specs and files, instead of complaining expecting things to magically work out. I've been in your spot, I'm sure plenty of other's have been in your position where they've been ready to just lob their laptop out of the window because they gave up trying to get Fusion to work. But we didn't just give up we worked past it and learnt how to use the program and actually adapted rather than just stay in the same spot expecting someone to fix our problems. As I've said many times on this thread, Fusion isn't perfect and never will be. No software is perfect and Fusion is one of the many few, actually I think it's the only software that contains it all, solids, metal, simulation, PCB, ect... and of course with anything new, it's going to take time for it to be up to professional standards.

You prefer to POINTLESSLY VENT and POINT OUT THE OBVIOUS. Engineer's are people who find a solution, if something doesn't work they find a workaround they work round the issue, that's what I admire about them.

regards

Ricky

I am almost forgot about this post as I moved on to other things.

My venting was uncalled for but my feelings are understandable.

I had some offers to help, I will pursue them when appropriate.
