What Happened to "Save Copy As"

The right-click "Save Copy As" feature was a great way to grab a component and within Fusion360 create a copy of a component in the browser directory in which you were working.  Now it goes to the Export menu and the work around is export a .Step and then reimport that .step file.  Why can't this still be done right within Fusion360?

The "Save to a project in the cloud" used to create models that only opened on fusion360 in a web browser.  Is this now the "Save Copy As" functionality?

Hi @avincens,

I just took a peek into this - and yes you are correct. What happens is it brings up the Export menu, but the Export menu has an option to save to the cloud, to save to the local desktop, or to both. I just experimented with this workflow and if you only check the "Save project in cloud" and uncheck the local export option - this is the same functionality as saving the component directly to the Fusion project that you want. It is not only editable in a web browser - it can be opened within Fusion 360.

This did not seem to be the case. The Save-as exported documents to the cloud were not immediately able to open in Fusion. I deleted them once it no longer told me that it couldn't delete because the new cloud document was open in fusion.

I much prefer the old save-as to preserve my work and start a new file directly within Fusion.

Just FYI - this is indeed an unintended regression.  There is a fix in place for this here, it will be getting released as soon as we can verify that the fix is a good one.  Thanks for reporting this.

Hi,

Also "Save Copy As" *and* export functions seem to have other problems : when saving on disk and/or on cloud, the files save empty.

Even an export on disk within the f3d native format is empty, we have to export in IGES to have something in the file.

I hope I'm clear enough as I'm not native English speaker/writer...
