Recent Files storage problem

Can anybody point out a problem i have 

When i finish my CNC part I X off that part and automatic stores in my recent data file (I understand that)

I then save that part to a file location so it`s in a easy to find location for next time i need to machine that part (I get that )

but when i delete it from my recent data it then delete from the file in my location also so i lose that file (WHY)

As I have so many files in my recent data and was looking to free it it but I am afraid now to do that in case I lose all my CNC files

This is a good question, and I agree that the behavior can be confusing.

It seems that there should be a way to just remove the items from the My Recent Data area, without actually deleting the document.

It seems that this isn't possible today.

I've raised the issue with our user interface folks, to see what comment they have about this.
