Web Viewer Error

I can't get the view to show my project and the share links do not work. I have been getting "Unrecoverable exit code from extractor: -1073741831" Is there an issue with model complexity or size?

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks for posting. We've seen this issue before - it appears to usually be due to:

  • a password on the file
  • file corruption
  • temporary cloud service outages

I would recommend working through the suggestions in this article as a starting point for troubleshooting - I hope this will help. If you continue to experience problems, please share a link to the problem file with me, along with a local archive copy of the file. I'm happy to have a look!

I have tried turning off file share and resaving, but this doesn't seem to work. I can edit this file fine in fusion360 so I don't think that it is corrupted?

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks for the response. Sometimes the corruption can occur in the web viewer only rather than within the desktop application - this is due to the file translation process for the viewer.

Do you experience any problems if you export a new local archive copy of the file from Fusion 360 and then re-upload it to your data panel or in the web browser?

"Local Export is not supported right now for distributed designs". Is there a way to get a round that?

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks for the response - I didn't realize you are working with a distributed design. Sharing a public link or downloading a copy through the web browser are the export options for distributed designs at this time.

I received your link via direct message, but received nothing at the link but a blank screen, as shown below:blank.png

This is likely due to the same errors you've been experiencing - something about this file is not translating correctly in the viewer. If you enable the allow download flag in the file you sent over, I may be able to get a working copy of the file out for further investigation.

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks for sharing the file. I had no errors downloading, uploading, and then sharing a link of the file. I've sent you a direct message with the link. It seems like something may have gone wrong during the initial upload process - does everything work properly if you download a new copy of the file and re-upload it to Fusion 360?

This is a relatively large file and I did need to wait for some time for the visuals to be shown in the web browser, but I did not receive any errors.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any questions - as the link seems to be working for me, I would recommend making sure you are working in the most recent version of your web browser (I like Google Chrome) and reshare the link.

Downloading the archive and reuploading did fix the link sharing, but this hack nukes the revision history. I would like to know how resolve the issue with the original design file. I have tried moving components around and resaving to force a change commit that would in turn force the viewer to rebuild the file, but this does not seem force this problem to go away.

1. Is a permanent issue with the file and thus I need to make a new branch of sorts by essentially copy and pasting each time I need to do a review?

2. Is there a real solution or some type of debug tool that can tell me what is causing this?

3. Or is the only possible solution to just reupload the design file and hope that the viewer generates without problems going forward?

Thanks,

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks for the response.

  1.  It is hard to say if this is a permanent issue with the file at this time. I've seen this error occur before and then go away, but I've also seen it persist in designs. If you have further issues with this file, you could do reviews as live reviews or within the Fusion 360 desktop application rather than the web browser. This is not ideal, but it is hard to predict the future behavior of this file, particularly because we each had different experiences.
  2. While there is not a long term solution at this time, this error message is currently being researched by our development team so they can address the root cause of this behavior. The team has a number of tickets regarding further research on this error message currently.

I fully understand the hesitation to drop the design history, but believe that re-sharing the link or re-uploading the file is the only solution for your particular file at this time. We'll be continuing to research these behaviors and apologize for any inconveniences this may cause you.

An alternative solution would be to export a local archive copy (or share a public link to download the new copy) and send the locally saved copy out to the members of your review. You could then keep the original file with the design history while others followed along with their own copy of the file.
