Unresolved Components

Hi, I have a corrupted model, I'm get an Unresolved Components message similar to this: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-support/fixed-error-unresolved-components-in-assembly-afte...

I've spend days trying to resolve and have posted on the forums. Is it possible to share with someone in the team to take a look?

I've got months of work at risk, so would really appreciate any help.

Thanks

Julian

Can you please provide diagnostic logs?

  1. Open Fusion on the machine where the design was made, go to Help
  2. Support and Diagnostics
  3. Diagnostic log files

Thanks,

Hi Phil, please find attached log file. I should add I design on two machines, this is from the machine the problem first happened. If you need the other I can get that later.

Many thanks

For reference, I've cleared the cache and done a clean installed on this machine since the problem occurred, that was for the black toolbar issue.

Thanks for helping.

If the logs are from after a clean uninstall, after the problem occurred, they may not show much.

It's interesting that you use two machines. Is it possible that one of the machines was shut down/lid closed immediately after saving the design? Fusion will continue the upload when such a machine is restarted/woke from sleep.

Hi Phil, both machines are desktops. No I don't think that's the case, the machines tend to stay on all day and shut down after they backup.

Talking of backup. I had the project set to save to offline cache, this has enabled me to restore with the files in the 'F' folder such that I can replicate the original problem. I extracted the snapshot from a couple of weeks ago using my backup software (of the F folder). I also have the main master project still, that I have tried all sorts of things with. More than happy to get them to you/share, if that helps?
I have really tried all sorts of things and have learnt a lot, but the project has got it's knickers in a right royal twist!

Thanks

In your case, the problem first appeared on April 14.

In your restore data, if you can find the logs from the April 14 time frame they will be very helpful.

Do you recall anything about how it may have become corrupt? That step is what we need to track down. Any description of the design and how it was made, saved, were multiple computers involved, etc. would be helpful.

Thanks,

Hi Phil,

The problem occurred when I was working on only one computer. I went to open the project having worked on it the day before. I did nothing in between, an inserted design was unresolved. I had not worked on that design for a while. From what I can tell it just broke.

I have attached some screen shots from the restored project to simulate the original problem
Open.jpg is when first opened

UnresolvedComponent.jpg is showing the offending missing/corrupted design

Out-of-date.jpg is showing it has a problem with the design in the uses tab.

If I could just get rid of all references to it I could re insert, no big deal. But even when all versions are at V1 I can't get rid of it.

Thanks

Julian

Thanks for the details. We're still trying to determine the log entries at a specific time. The logs you rescued ended at April 13. The problem happened on April 14.

Version 4 was created at:

        [lastModifiedTime] => 2021-04-14T11:50:25+0000

Did this start as a STP file that was opened with Open rather than Upload?

Hi Phil, thank you for looking into this. I can confirm the inserted and offending design did start as a STEP file and was first loaded with the Open command.
