Unable to select entire extrusion at once

Hello,

 

I'm VERY new at Fusion 360. I'm working on a guitar body. I inserted a DFX, which I exported from V Carve Pro. I then extruded it, but the extrusion seems to exist as multiple pieces. I'd like to be able to click on the entire extrusion with one click.

 

Sorry if this doesn't make sense. Like I said, I'm very new.

yes, that is much better, thanks.  The problem is as I suspected - the entire outer face of the body is one face, so when you do Split Faces, selecting the sketch, it will split it multiple times.

two ways to deal with that:

  1. split the face into 2 before doing this split
  2. use Surface Extrude to extrude the sketch so that it only intersects the face once
