Unable to Access My Autodesk Account Due to Deleted Student Email

I am experiencing an issue accessing my Autodesk account. I had a student membership linked to my student email address, but my institution has since deleted that email. Now, when I try to log in, I am prompted to receive a verification code either via my student email (which I no longer have access to) or via my phone. However, I am not receiving any verification codes on my phone either.

Since I cannot access my student email and I am not receiving the authentication code on my phone, I am completely locked out of my account. I would appreciate your assistance in recovering access. Pleeease let me know what steps I should take to verify my identity and regain access to my account.

I got totally screwed over with the new 2FA as well.  Just suddenly kicked me out of Fusion and when I sign in using my username and password, it then tries to do 2FA by sending an email to an email address that I have not had for a while.  I had no warning before this update to change my email address on my account.  I lost access to my 2+ years of files.  Please help me get my files back.

I am also unable to log in despite correct credentials due to the new forced OTP. The account I'm posting with is a new one, since I can't access my original one for the aforementioned reason.

I registered my account with a school email address (like most university kids using Autodesk products do) in order to access the educational licenses. When I graduated, I converted my educational licenses, but did not switch my primary email away from the school email, unaware that the school's policy is to delete said emails and their logins one year after the student graduates.

I'm pretty sure I did end up adding a secondary email address, but it is not giving me the option to use it with OTP. I went through a customer support chat that basically said, "No email access = no OTP = you can't log in, sorry."

I tried to send a direct message, but the website isn't working very well.  I also had to create this account just to be able to talk to anyone because it won't let you go anywhere in chat without creating an account.  If you can't access your account...you can't login to chat....doesn't make much sense....

Anyways, I saw that you recently disabled 2FA temporarily for 7 days for another user who was unable to access their email..  I'm also in the same situation.  I don't have access to my previous email/account and need to update it with a new school one.  Can you please disable 2FA temporarily on the account: jhartsoe1@collin.edu so I can get in and update my account so I'm not locked out and lose all of my designs etc?  Again, the account I need 2FA disabled on is: jhartsoe1@collin.edu

I just need it disabled long enough for me to login and update everything.  I've would really appreciate the help so I don't lose the last 2 years of hard work and designs I've created.   It's extremely important I can get back into my account.  Thank you sooooooo much!

Many of you following this thread has messaged me directly about the not having access to Fusion due to the OTP and not having access to our email. I am working with our teams on how to override this. It's taking some time but treating this as high priority. I will update the post here once I have a resolution.

For any one following this thread and are blocked due to the OTP issue, here is the guidance to be followed.

1. Please go to https://www.autodesk.com/support/contact-support
2. Generate a support ticket
3. You will be asked a series of steps to verify identification
4. Once confirmed you will get back access to your account
5. IMPORTANT - Follow this article to change your email associated to Fusion (also ada pone number in there if you have not already done so. This will help with any other validations in the future. )

IF for any reason you are not getting the help needed, please report back here with the support case ID.

How and where can I create a support ticket?  That page and the updated one has no information on how or where to submit a ticket request.

asking the AI agent, gives "how to submit a ticket request, and it sends me to a 404 page not found....this isn't helping 😞 All I need is the 2FA disabled so I can log back in and update my info....the account is:  jhartsoe1@collin.edu

so I spoke to chat, and they aren't helping either.  They said there's nothing they can do.  As a developer, to me, i would go into the database and turn off 2FA on that account, or bypass it.  I never turned it on to begin with.  So it was switched over without my acknowledgment .  But this support person is NOT helping....I have 2 years+ of files I cannot lose!  I can update my email and info...but I need to get back into my account to do so.

Please help!

@jasonhartsoe Apologies for the experience. I will follow up on what is happening here but just to clarify we are not turning on 2FA. This is a one time OTP option that was put in place by our identity team. I am following up on the chat.

not sure what you mean by the on time 2FA option?  Yep, chat/support has been no help.  They continue to tell me without 2FA there's no way I can get back in 😞  I have my login info saved.  If 2FA wasn't enabled (that i never turned on to begin with) I could get back in and update my 2FA info so this wouldn't be a future problem.  But this support person cannot help me and continues to say so 😞  I apologize having to bother you, I just don't want to lose 2+ years of work I cannot recreate.  Some took months of work and refining.... 😞

no help 😞

All i need is 2FA disabled....or whatever needs to be done so I can get back in to my account long enough to update the 2FA info.  I can prove it's my account....file and folder names are: Diabetx, Filamatch, Masters, etc.  one of the recent files I worked last on was just a simple 52mm round object for my 2d printer filament....just a simple design.  Please please tell me there's something you can do 😞  this is so worrisome....

Account:  jhartsoe1@collin.edu

Add a secondary email:  jasonhartsoe@me.com or SMS: 828-569-0425

Thank you!

My case number is 24453644

I tried to attach a photo of my drivers license to the support ticket, but when I did that, the ticket submission failed.  I had to remove the attachment for the ticket submission to work.

it appears we're all being told we can't get back in.  The ONLY way is to get access to the old email account....as we're being told by support.  We NEVER opted in or agreed 2FA to be turned on.  So I don't see why it should be a problem just disabling it...or rolling it back.  This might become a serious legal headache for other's who affects their livelihood.  Meanwhile, for us users, we can't do anything about it right now.  I can name you folders, files, etc. and easily prove it's my account....if 2FA was disabled I could easily login right now too.  This isn't fair at all to us.  I cannot lose 2 years of hard work that I can easily recreate.  Some took several months.  I hope someone can help.  It's not like we're stealing nuclear secrets here....I can verify file names, projects, folders, and so on.  Surely that's enough....  ya know?

Please and thank you.  The support chat has been no help and continues to tell me that it can't be done.  By forcing 2FA on us, we lost access to everything.  For some this could be costly.... Someone should be fired for this.  While I can understand the efforts to secure accounts, it should be opted in by the user and no by the company.  Thus avoiding things like this.  I was a developer for 35 years.  If we'd done something like this, we'd been in serious legal trouble.  Regardless, for the rest of us, I don't want just my files, I want back into my account so I can update it and continue using it.  I want to keep my ability to edit the files, the history, etc and update my current school email, etc.  I don't want to lose anything or access to my account.  Personally, I never agreed to 2FA.  So I don't see the logic in NOT turning it off as it should have never been turned on to begin with.  So disabling it would be as if it was never touched.  I can easily prove it's my account...for something I never turned on to begin with.   I hope there's something you can do.  I just don't understand why it has to be this difficult when we didn't turn it on to begin with.  We are locked out at no fault of our own.  I could understand if we had turned it on..and then be a concern for user security...but we didn't.  We didn't turn this on.  It was done without our consent.  Now we continue to go without it...and I desperately need to work on something and now I can't.  Let alone access any of my files.  This is so frustrating, worrisome, and seriously concerned at this point.  Please help them to see and understand turning off 2FA for us has no impact in security as we never turned it on to begin with.  Thus reverting back to before the change/update.  At that point i'll update my info and decide if I want it back on or not.  But I can't do that without access.... 😞

I appreciate all the help you're doing and thank you for being patient with us!

While I can understand being upset, as I am also affected and upset, I don't think anyone should be fired for this. It just needs to be made right.

I'm not a cyber security professional, but my layman's perspective of this is that OTP/2FA should never be force-enabled on an existing service account without first explicitly re-verifying that the end-user still has access to whatever method the OTP will be delivered by. In my head, this should be handled by forcing the user to set up OTP/2FA or re-verify their OTP methods on their next successful standard login. The obvious downside being that until the user is forced to enable it, it doesn't offer any additional security, but in my opinion that is a trade worth users not losing access to their accounts due to freak circumstance like surprise dead primary email addresses. I think this would have rapid adoptation anyway given how Autodesk products do not seem to keep users logged in for very long before requiring re-authentication.
