dark mode easier on your eyes.png

Many of you have been wishing and waiting for dark mode for a long time, so we hope you'll be excited to know the rumors in the community are true: UI Theme (aka dark mode) is finally coming to Autodesk Fusion.

We’ve been working hard to get you the ability to switch themes in Fusion and we’ll soon be making it a preview feature, available to try as part of a staggered rollout. This means that not everyone will get access to the preview at first, but more and more of you will eventually get access as we continue to mature the experience.  This way we can ensure the functionality is working in tip-top shape when it becomes available to everyone.

To check if you have access, Go to your Preferences > Preview Features > UI Theme. If you see the UI Themes Preview option, checking it and then clicking on “Apply” will turn the option for you to change themes. Navigate to General section of your preferences. You should now see a Theme option. Change from Fusion Classic to Dark Blue and click “OK” and you should be ready to go.

enable ui theme.gif

Note: If you previously changed the Display Settings Environment to a different canvas color, your previous settings will be retained.  To have the canvas color follow your chosen UI Theme, go to Navigation Bar > Display Settings > Environment and select Theme (default).

We’re still actively developing this feature, and we want your feedback

As stated above, theme switching is not done; we are actively improving the experience. Due to the expansive nature of Fusion and all the workspaces, we’ve primarily focused on fleshing out the Design workspace and the most common workflows. We want to make sure dark mode works well for every aspect of Fusion, across macOS or Windows, and with whatever machine you’re on.

If you try dark mode and see any weird behaviors or issues, please report them here. Screenshots are highly useful. Our developers are watching and engaging with you; what you submit will help us prioritize future improvements.

Thank you for your help and support!

Ok well I'm sure someone at Autodesk has seen that because it happens all the time on every design.

When am I going to be able to click on an item in the browser to show its subcomponents without Fusion thinking I held my mouse button down and want to instead drag the component? Because that happens all the time on every design since the last update. It's happened before over the years but after this update it's way too often, someone at Autodesk had to have noticed.

If I create a section view and click on a circular face the obvious expectation is that that section view is smack in the middle of that bore. Not .0002" off center one time and on the next try it's .0001" off in the opposite direction, and then on the third try it's .03" off, and then finally after the 4th try it's centered on that bore. I can't triple check every single little thing I do I need to get some work done.

If you guys are going to rush every update out maybe fix the bugs? Otherwise they just pile up. It's been over 6 years on 3 different brand new computers and this program just gets buggier and clunkier.

Starts sketch > Loading symbol > Draws one single line segment > loading symbol > beach ball of death > second loading symbol for some reason > welp that's lunch.

I have not seen the incorrect underlining.  If it happens on every design for you, please just supply one that shows it so that we can reproduce it.

Also:  As @dfanz0r suggests, this thread is supposed to be about Dark Mode, and a lot of your topics (this one included) are not related to Dark Mode at all.  Please keep your reports topical to the subject.

Great now this tooltip won't go away even though I closed the dialogue it's assigned to:

IMG_8357.jpeg

Doesn't go a way until I hover my mouse over the browser:

I'm going to hit "Reply" to this post, I'm going to go back to Fusion, and within a minute I'm going to notice either a bug or a beach ball of death. At at least one point today Fusion will just permanently change my mouse cursor to the "resizenortheastsouthwest" cursor for no reason despite me never trying to resize anything.

Wasn't this supposed to be fixed 6 months ago? Why is Fusion taking up 2 spaces in Mission Control?:

Email sent.

Well my lollipop mills no longer look like helmet heads on setup sheets (only took 3 years for a bug fix) but my form mills still don't look right.

This is what Harvey tool #807312 looks like:

Screenshot 2025-02-07 at 10.59.00 AM.png

Notice how it doesn't look like a square end mill.

This is what that tool looks like on my setup sheets:

Thanks for all your feedback @FrodoLoggins, and thanks @jeff_strater for helping. I will call out that your recent posts have strayed away from the original intent of this thread, which is to specifically give feedback on UI Theme Preview. If there are other things you need help with or want to report on, please start a new thread  so the team can stay focused on the topic at hand.

Parameters cannot be added to configurations using new UI themes. The checkbox does not toggle on click. Tested on both "Dark Blue" and "Light Gray". Only works as expected with "Fusion Classic" theme.

Delete group options are white on white.

This has been mentioned for Mac as hard to see, but for windows it's impossible to see.

Cheers

Hello, I think dark mode is amazing. Here are the issues I have noticed:

When you open up the "Capture Image" menu some of the text is unreadable.

Capture_Image.png

When you click on the three dots that pull up the menu to "Add to Toolbar" and "Pin to Shortcuts" the text is hard to read.

Any_Pin_to_Toolbar_Menu.png

The dialog box to change the color under Render>Scene Settings>Color has unreadable text.

Change_Color_In_Render_Scene_Settings.png

Some text in the Material Browser in illegible.

Thank you for your work on Fusion.

Agreed, the blue looks really dated. Better to start on the black version before they head too far down this dark blue rabbit hole.
