Twisting a plane for a 3D print

I try to learn a new thing every year and this year is 3D printing. I've recently stopped using Inventor (retired from school) and am now using Fusion and fighting the re-learning curve.  

 

The end goal is a printed object encapsulated into resin.  Ideally I would like to create a sketch, extrude the object, then twist the plane through 360 degrees. On a mechanical level I can make a thin print, adhere it to a plastic sheet, heat, twist and cool the sheet then separate and cast the object.

 

The ingenious solution to the "twisting planes" problem in an earlier question won't work here because I'm not trying to twist the extrusion. In effect I'm trying to draw onto a twisted plane.

 

The problem discussion there indicates that twisting a solid body is not a current capability but that there are alternatives to accomplish the same thing.

 

I suspect that answer is partly RTFM and partly the intellectual judo to see the problem in terms of Fusion's capabilities.  While I've spent some time doing both I'm overlooking something. I need a pointer to a solution more than I need a well articulated answer.

Twisted Plane - does not exist in Fusion, and I expect would not exist in Inventor either.

 

You can create a twisted Surface Body, with 360 degrees of twist, with a Sweep set Twist Angle to 360 degrees.

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file(s) of your attempt(s) to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

I taught Inventor and Fusion (and SolidWorks and Creo and AutoCAD) for years.  I am sure there is a simple solution.

I have a conceptual solution -- 

 

(1) Create a rippled solid large enough to emboss the image

(2) Emboss the image onto the solid

(3) Eliminate the solid, leaving only the embossing.

(4) Export and 3D print the embossing

 

I've worked through 1-2, can't figure out 3

Thanks for the help.  I've changed the underlying approach to one that I think will work.  Rather than trying to distort the drawing plane I intend to create a surface that meets requirements, then emboss the drawing onto that surface. This will let me use all of the Fusion tools to make the surface.

 

My current sticking point is that I want to create the embossing as a distinct component so that I can possibly add a foot and then print only the embossing.  So far I haven't figured out how to eliminate the body and keep only the embossing.

 

I have a simple .stl file in the reply to Daveb that embossed an ellipse onto waved surface.

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

Do you mean create an emboss on a solid Body:

Yes, embossing and then deleting the original solid body is a solution that will work for me.  I tried deleting the body and, of course, lost both.

 

How did you delete the initial solid?  I think you created an additional sketch matching the profile of the solid and then cut the solid away.

The sketch profile that was used to create (Extrude new body) the "Sacrificial"  body was the same profile used to extrude cut the embossed body, leaving just the embossed part.
