The finish feedrate is higher than the cutting feedrate

Can someone help me figure out why Fusion 360 CAM keeps giving me the warning that the finish feedrate is higher than the cutting feedrate?  The tool I chose (generic 9/64" diameter 118 degree drill bit) in the 2D contour function has a feedrate of 50.8mm/min.  I then chose a finish rate of 10mm/min.  It gives me the error.  I chose 1mm/min; it gives me the error.  I choose zero and it says that the finish rate must be a positive nonzero value.  I do not have a choice to ignore the finish feedrate and I am at my wits end.  50.8 (cutting rate) is definitely larger than 10 and 1 (finish rates I input) and I know the good folks at Autodesk can do math, so I am doing something ridiculously stupid or there is a bug.  Either way, I would love a workable solution.  Thank you.

Thanks for posting! It appears that this issue occurs when you are using a drill for the 2D contour operation instead of an end mill. 

 

I believe the error is being triggered because drill tool does not have a feedrate for contour moves - if only has a plunge and retract feedrate (which is being used only for the plunge). If you post out the code, we can see that a feed of ZERO is applied to the roughing pass because the drill tool does not have a "contouring" feed rate that can be applied. This can be seen by right clicking the operation and selecting "View Toolpath" after ignoring the error.

Fusion applies the finishing toolpath to the operation because it is explicitly defined in the operation set up, but has no where to pull a roughing feed from for the drill tool.

 

Using an end mill instead of a drill should allow you to work around this. If you need to use a drill, I would recommend manually entering the roughing feed into the output code.

 

The reasoning behind this is that a drill would only be used for chamferring with a 2D Contour toolpath, which should not require a roughing pass.

Remember,  if you are trying to run a contour routine with a drill bit, there are different tool variables that apply, try a bullnose cutter the same size..

Paul, I continually have the same issue when setting Finish Feed Rates for milling operations. And, I don't use drills either. I mostly use endmills for milling. Why do I keep getting a warning when I adjust Finish Feed Rates?  Is there a way to mute these warnings?  It's optimal to have green check marks next to all of my Machining Operations.
