Hi Jari,

I'm so sorry that we continue to run in to road blocks.

I am not an expert in this area, so I won't guess at what might be going on (I assume you have tried following the referenced article?), but perhaps if you zipped/archived the contents of %LOCALAPPDATA%\Autodesk and posted the resulting file using the same html I linked earlier, I can hunt through there for clues and hopefully get the right people involved.

Thanks,

Steven

Hello Steven,

I uploaded new .reg file. Information in support page did't give me answer to my problem.

Hi Jari,

Sorry I wasn't more clear.   I don't think we need another streamer.dmp file.  Instead, we should collect some log files that may be on your system using the process in the attached screencast.

Note that if any of the files or folders that I selected in the video are not present on your machine, simply omit them of course.

Once you have the zip file, please upload it in the same way as the .dmp files.

Thanks,

Steven

Hello Jari,

Thank you for providing the zip file, and sorry for taking so long to respond, but I have been having difficulty analyzing the problem.

I can only reproduce the issue you are having if I somehow prevent my system from accessing the web address we need to access in order to perform a login, so I think Fusion is having trouble accomplishing this critical step on your system.

However, while I told you to omit any of the demonstrated files or folders from the archive if they were not present, I'll have to admit I did not expect both "Autodesk Fusion 360" and "Web Services" to be missing from your system.  Without one of these folders (particularly "Web Services"), I cannot tell what web address the system is actually trying to use to establish the connection so that we may investigate more thoroughly.

I am thinking that there may be some discrepancy between where I asked you to look for files and folders, and where Fusion is actually putting them, so may I ask you to run another diagnostic?

In your windows command prompt, issue the following command exactly as presented:

powershell -C "[Environment]::GetFolderPath('LocalApplicationData');$env:LOCALAPPDATA"

And report  how many lines of text are shown and whether they match or not.

If there are two lines, and they do not match, please repeat the process for collecting diagnostic files in the folder indicated on the first line.

If this doesn't work in getting us the information we need, we may need to consider other alternatives.

Thanks,

Steven

Hello svelez,

Thanks Steven for your help. There are two lines and they do match.

Best regards

OK.  Thanks for doing that...

I received a suggestion from an associate that there may be a problem with SSL certificate validation.

If you go to the website https://accounts.autodesk.com with Internet Explorer or Microsoft Edge, do you get any warnings?

With or without warnings, does launching Fusion behave any differently after doing this?

Thanks,

Steven

I did't get any warnings with Edge. Fusion still give me this:

OK.  Thanks again for trying this and especially, thank you for your continued persistence.

So, now we are back to trying to find the log files 🙂

I think we are going to have to utilize a tool made by Microsoft that records all sorts of things happening on the system.  This will be a bit involved, so bear with me.

  1. Download the tool https://live.sysinternals.com/Procmon.exe and make a note to where it is saved.  These instructions will assume everything downloaded is saved to the Downloads folder, and that will be referred to as "%USERPROFILE%\Downloads".  Adjust any references to this as appropriate.
  2. Download the attachment to this post named "MonitorFusion.obj"
  3. Launch procmon from the command prompt in order to provide the given configuration on launch:
    "%USERPROFILE%\Downloads\procmon.exe" /Quiet /LoadConfig "%USERPROFILE%\Downloads\MonitorFusion.obj"
  4. You may be prompted to accept a license agreement.  Once that is complete, launch Fusion as normal, and many entries should appear in the procmon window.
  5. After Fusion fails, save the procmon data using the File->Save... menu option.  Retain the default options... except you may alter the path as it suits you. Make note of where the file is saved.
  6. Compress the .pmc file this creates and upload it as all the rest of the file have been uploaded. (For reference: https://autodesk.box.com/shared/static/xs5m0ar7fpsqmccen7i0sc8q9nk3pyo3.html)

Thank You,

Steven

Edit:  Changed the extension of MonitorFusion to be one the forum accepts... even though it is not REALLY an obj file... should still work

Hello Steven,

I  did my best.. hope you get it as you explained. File was named .PLM not .pmc before compressing it.

Thanks

Hello Jari,

Thanks again.  That's just what I needed.

Interestingly enough, this capture indicates that fusion is successfully opening and writing to the log files of interest exactly where expected:

C:\Users\jario\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Autodesk Fusion 360

C:\Users\jario\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Web Services

However, the diagnostic log archive from last week does not include these folders.  Did anything happen during the operation that may indicate an error archiving?

Can you try again after restarting the computer (perhaps something is holding a file in use and preventing the operation).

If the folders aren't visible in explorer, then maybe you can archive and upload all of C:\Users\jario\AppData\Local\Autodesk?

Thanks,

Steven

Hello Steven,

I don't know what have been happened last week with this problem.. but first I could't install Fusion at all and then with your download link (post 02-14-2017 10:14 AM) installation happened. But it ain't working...

I did't get any warnings or errors during installation Fusion 360. What I should upload next? Autodesk file size is 2.5Gt..

Should I try to remove all files and try clean install from Autodesk (not experimental link)?

Regards

Jari

OK,

Yes, please do upload all of the Autodesk folder... just to make sure we get everything that is available in there.  It should be smaller after compression (< 1GB) I think.

However, if you have a metered or slow connection (i.e. this will take more than a couple of hours), or this will cause hardship in any other way, then let me know, and perhaps we can devise another method.

Thanks,

Steven

Hi Steven,

I can't compress Autodesk file. I get this: Compressed files-application fail -> File is missing or you don't have permission to read it.

Hi Jari,

Do you have other Autodesk products installed?  Depending on which ones, something may be running in the background.

If not, then perhaps restarting the computer before trying the archive operation will eliminate any running processes.

If neither of these are the case, then perhaps, after restart, delete the whole folder and run the experimental installation again.

Make *sure* there are no other Autodesk applications installed before trying this.

If you continue to get errors while trying to archive the folder (and another restart doesn't help), or if deleting the autodesk folder fails, then we may need to figure out what file is failing to archive and either determine how to skip it and still get what we want, or discover how to make it archivable.  Not sure how we will do that, so lets wait to see if it is necessary.

Thanks,

Steven

Hi Steven,

I don't have any other Autodesk production in my laptop. Restarting doesn't help neither. Done that several times. Compressing fail quite soon after python file named...

I'm quite frustrated of this... but I try again install experimental version.

Hello Steven,

I uninstalled Fusion and deleted autodesk file after that. Then I restart machine and install again Fusion experimental version, but i'm in same position than before. This is taking too much of my time. Maybe I should try SolidWorks...

Thanks

Hello Jari,

I'm sorry to hear that and please forgive me for requiring so much of your time to do the diagnosis.  I do thank you for the effort you have invested.

I've been working on finding someone who could work with you a bit more efficiently and @Mike.Grau has volunteered to dig deeper with you on this issue. Please consider giving him one more chance.

Thanks,

Steven
