Space Mouse usage in 360 when switching between macro and micro views...

As I am working and get closer to the model, 360 does this annoying thing of making the rate of change slower in relation to my input device (in this case my space mouse). It makes it almost impossible to switch between macro and micro views without problems. I eventually have to hit the fit view shortcut because this change in speed begins to take effect further from the model the more times I am zooming in and out.
I want to complete control the speed of my orbit using my space mouse. I have no desire for 360 to ever change amount of force required to change the perspective. I want to start orbiting my model and slowly fly into the model and keep the same rate of change I was at the macro but in the micro level (which my hand is actually trained to use less, not more input at that level). In cheaper products they haven't even played with such an idea so when I use them I just naturally use smaller movements the closer I get in.
So how do I disable this completely?
The the worst is when you get too close to the model from one axis and then only that axis has the effect and your controls are now completely unbalanced! Argh!
