sketch show components in previous position

Hi

I have created a sketch, then realized I need to move some components for the design to work. So I finished the sketch, moved the components, captured positions, and opened the sketch to edit again. To my surprise, the components jumped back to their previous positions. Its only in sketch mode, and only in that sketch. If I delete the sketch, and start a new one, it will be in the new position. It seems like sketches do a 'capture position' of their own. Can I turn this off somehow? thanks

since the idea is that the piece of metal I am drawing in the sketch to cover the lower left board's top left mounting screw, its pretty important to have it its new position, cant just eyeball it.

Hi,

1. editing sketches is always done at their historical origin.
2. is it possible that the sketch is not inside the affected component?

If it is inside the component, it will be moved with it.

That is not a recommended workflow!

No, its not in the affected component.

It seems to me that the same feature makes some components 'disappear' when opening an older sketch, components that have been not in the project when the sketch was made. 
Example:

this case was designed with round connectors in mind:

now we use a Lemo connector to the 12V input, which have a little 'notch'. Trial uses revealed that the connector spins without this notch, and breaks its cables. So I downloaded the step model of the connector, and added it here:

you can see how much more stuff is in the tree, including the EGG.0B.302 model. 

The next step would be to open my old sketch, project the connector and modify the circle with a notch. However, when I open the sketch, which was done many versions ago, I cannot see the connector model, hence I cannot project it.
How do you solve this?

Roll timeline marker before the sketch, for the import action.

Otherwise, Project old stuff to a new sketch.

What you mention about things later in the timeline unavailable, when editing the sketch is normal behaviour, for timeline modelling.

Editing an older sketch rolls the timeline back to when the sketch was created, only what came before the sketch will still be visible just like if you went back in time.

If you want modify sketches with geometry created after the sketch was, turn off capture design history and work in direct modeling mode. That will give you what you want but keep in mind that you will not have any way of going back in time to change or modify anything and you will not have a parametric model.
