Sketch selection problems since sept2026 update

Sketch regions can no longer be selected after the latest Fusion update

Since updating Fusion yesterday, I’ve run into a very frustrating issue when editing sketches that were created before the update. As soon as I make any changes to an existing sketch, I can no longer select any of the blue sketch regions to use them in commands such as Extrude, Revolve, etc.

For example:

I have a sketch consisting of two rectangles with triangular teeth. These were previously revolved to create two rings (to grip fabric).

I then edited the sketch and added a small rectangle in the middle to represent some fabric caught between the teeth. However, after making this change, I can no longer select the new rectangle (or any other part of the sketch region) at all for use in another command. Also I can not adjust any of the features using this same sketch, or use the sketch in any new features, as it is impossible to select any area.

Has anyone else experienced this since the update? Is there a workaround, or is this a known bug?

Forgot to mention that after modifying the same sketches of existing parts (created before the update), the section view also seems to be buggy. The hatched areas disappear, leaving only the wall surfaces visible. The work-around for now is just rebuilding after every sketch adjustment.

Hi @lmavandervaart ,

Thanks for the detailed report, and for including your Fusion build and macOS information.

Since this started after the September update and affects sketches that were working previously, I would like to investigate this further.

Could you please share:

  • The affected Fusion dataset as an F3D or F3Z
  • A short video showing the sketch before editing, the change you make, and the point where the sketch regions can no longer be selected
  • Your Fusion Diagnostic Logs
  • Whether the issue also happens if you create a completely new sketch in the same design

As a quick test, after modifying the sketch, could you also try Modify > Compute All and let us know whether that restores the sketch profile selection or the Section Analysis hatching? Fusion normally recomputes automatically, but Compute All can help identify cases where an upstream edit has not fully recomputed.

Also, please check that Sketch Profiles is enabled under Select > Selection Filters.

From your screenshot, the profiles themselves appear to still be recognized, so the dataset and video will be particularly helpful in determining whether this is a selection/regeneration issue introduced by the update.

Hey Sujay, thanks for the quick reply. The compute all feature doesn't seem to alter anything, but it does "fix" the section view problem (although I have to redo it every time I adjust the part). Please find a zip attached with two screen recordings:
- One shows the selection problem with existing part, both with a new and old sketch
- Second shows the selection problem with adjusting existing features

Working on your other requests. Regards.

Hi @lmavandervaart ,

Thanks for providing the videos, Fusion dataset, and diagnostic logs.

Iam able to reproduce the issue using the information and dataset you provided. After editing the sketch, the sketch profiles can no longer be selected for operations such as Extrude/Revolve or when editing the existing features.

I also confirmed your observation that Compute All does not restore the sketch profile selection, although it does temporarily restore the missing Section Analysis hatching.

I have now logged this as a defect (FUS-274836) with our development team for further investigation. I’ll update this thread when we have additional information or a fix available.

Thanks again for providing everything needed to reproduce this.

Hi,

The error apparently only occurs when Section View is active.
I've already pointed this out in this thread.

Hi @g-andresen ,

Thanks for pointing this out. I was able to confirm that the issue is related to having Section View active.

I agree that the current behavior is confusing. Activating Section View should not cause sketch profiles to become unselectable. If those profiles are not intended to be selectable in this state, the UI should make that clear rather than continuing to display them as available profiles.

I have already logged this as defect FUS-274836 and assigned it to our development team for further investigation.

Thanks again for identifying the connection with Section View. I’ll update the thread once I have more information from the team.

SAME PROBLEM BUT CAN BE FIXED BY DISABLING SECTION ANALYSIS BUT WE STILL NEED TO SELECT PROFILE WHILE SECTION ANLYSIS IS ACTIVATED

Yeah this has suddenly broken, its definitely caused by section analysis view, its worked perfectly up until now. Most of our products are cylinders with revolve features cut in them. Normally I put a workplane through the middle of the part, section view using the workplane, do my sketch and revolve. Whatever has been updated now stops you from selecting the profile with the section view active, if you put it into wireframe mode you can select the profile without problem.

Also have the issues, and do not use section analysis.
