Sign in via browser on fusion 360, doesn't open browser.

I had a problem today when opening the software. The software asked me to sign in via a browser, which it was supposed to direct me to, but no browser window popped up. Instead, I was left with no way to log in.

I've tried:

  • repairing and reinstalling the software
  • running the software as an administrator
  • trying a different network
  • changing the main browser

OS: Windows 11

For me, the solution after the longest time was in the link opening software.
I've had a program installed that would let me open different websites in different browsers. It's set as a default browser and hijacks all the links that you click in windows. That software had issues with long, complex OAuth links that fusion360 tries to open when logging in.
Changing a default browser to be straight up regular browser fixed my issue.

I cant believe that this issue has been happening for such a long time to so many people yet Autodesk still uses their flawed sign in. Shows you how much they dont really give a f#$& as log as they get their money. Typical corporation. I had this issue last year and I stopped using Fusion . Thought by now they would have fixed their mistake. Installed Fusion again and again still having the same issue. Amazing.

This browser autenthication "feature" is something that I really can't understand. There must be some logic behind it, but it's vague to me as I'm just an ordinary user, not a software dev. There was nothing wrong with previous authentication method. Now every sign in is a russian roulette.

On my systems I use Firefox as the main browser and signing in is impossible there I need to maintain a secondary separate browser on every system just to be able to sign in to Fusion. Every time I got logged out I have to change my default browser in my system and pray. This in nowhere close to being convinient.

SOLUTION - (that worked for me)

 

I was using Google chrome without issues for 3+ years until to sign in to Fusion. Stopped working.

 

Solution use Microsoft edge and made default browser
