Rename file does not work while in drawing workspace

I'm having an issue where if I am in the drawing workspace, I cannot rename files in the data panel. This is quite annoying while I am trying to organize drawings and rename new revisions. Currently my only workaround is to have a new part open and switch to it every time I wish to rename something.

I do not see this problem.  The attached animated GIF will show that even while I have an assembly file or a single component open in the Design Workspace, it is easy to rename from the Data Panel.

Hi,

this only occurs when I'm in the drawing workspace. If I am in design or manufacture or any other workspace, rename works just fine. I can select rename, and it looks as if I am editing the name, but when I type, nothing comes up. This is not a computer issue either, because I have had this issue multiple times in the past, and I've just gotten a new computer today.

@designP7KZS Can you please confirm which OS you are using? Meanwhile as a workaround you can rename the files from Home Tab or Fusion Web.

Thank you for responding. I have tried on Windows 11 and not able to reproduce it. I have shared with our team and they are investigating it.

Can you please confirm if you are able to rename the file from Home tab or Fusion Web? Please let me know if you need help for the same.

This was reported on the insider forum 8 months ago.  Try   FDWG-18692, there may be more info

Hi there,

Not quite sure what this means sorry. I looked up DWG-18692 and all I found was a forum post with people moaning about how bad fusion is in general (lol). Something similar was mentioned but I think this seems to be a different issue?

I am able to rename in all other workspaces but drawing, including home. When I type in the rename box while in drawing workspace, it looks as if it is still the drawing window that is active and hotkeys are being pressed (e.g., I press D and i can see the dimension button in the toolbar highlighted). Sometime this issue does not occur when I have a new/simple drawing. I've noticed it happens most on complex drawings in large folders. I've had this issue across multiple operating systems, fusion versions, and Autodesk accounts so I don't think it is a problem with this pc/account/install specifically.

If this is covered by FDWG-18692 then disregard everything I say I suppose, but if not, I would really like to see this fixed. It does cause quite a bit of annoyance and It seems like something that would be an easy fix given that it's not an issue in other workspaces.

I have this same issue everyday. My work around is to open a new tab / select a different tab and try again. Annoying, but serviceable, would be great if it was fixed.

Thank you @designP7KZS. Appreciate you sharing the details. I agree the problem is not with pc/account/install specifically but with complexity of drawings.  I have shared all the details you mentioned with the team and they have identified the cause. Once team identifies the fix, will update here. Thank you for your patience.
Meanwhile as @jlalevee suggested, switch to another window using alt + tab and again switch to fusion and you should be able to rename the file.

Any update on this? Really annoying bug to have to deal with everyday, especially when you're trying to do something in a hurry.
