"edit sketch" option missing sometimes

Hi, sometimes when i right click on a sketch, the "edit sketch" option is missing.

For example, in the attached screenshot, I had just finished modifying that sketch, I clicked "finish sketch", immediately after I realized that a piece was missing, so I tried to modify again the sketch but as you can see the option "edit sketch" is not there (sorry it is in italian but I can understand by the icons).

If I close and re-open the project, the option appears again.

It happens very frequently and seems random to me, what am I missing here?

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

Do you have Capture Design History enabled?

This condition happens to me occasionally.  I find if I edit another sketch and then finish editing it clears the condition.  If you do not have another sketch to edit, create a new one, finish editing and delete.  This problem has been around for some time but it is hard to replicate on demand and even if you see the error, it is clear by further actions so Autodesk developers can not see it in a submitted file.

It has been reported before but just in case @Phil.E has this been logged?

For me, it helps to move the cursor in the timeline to the beginning and back to the end (even several times).

If it was ever logged, it could be  closed for "cannot reproduce".

I'm happy to log it if I can repeat it. In order to try to repeat it, I need some information.

• When this happens for one sketch, is the condition true for every other sketch?
  
  • If not, does it always happen to the sketch last edited?
  • Is it only for larger assemblies or can it happen with small designs?
  • If you can repeat it, can you share a design that you use to repeat it?

2. How many monitors?
   1. Is Fusion on the main monitor or secondary?

As I said in my original post, this is an occasional happening and I have never been able to capture it in a file.  It is always cleared, as the original poster said, by closing and re-opening the file.  I have also never come up with a predictable method to reproduce it in a reliable method I could submit.  I normally just clear it with my posted method and move on.

I will keep looking for a way to effectively report it but I wanted you to know it does happen to others.  I know you cannot do anything until you can precisely put you finger on a file or sequence of events.  Thanks for the reply.

Thanks for the reply. To be fair, I can do a lot without reproducible steps, but I can't log a bug report. I'm happy to engage with this thread, test possible scenarios, etc. I'm totally committed to finding a way to get this fixed. (Logging a bug report without properly supporting it will only add friction to the system)

I have set the screen recorder to continuous operation and was able to isolate the error.
The type of file and its elements are irrelevant.

Thanks for taking the time to present this video, and it does show a workaround. What it doesn't tell me is how to create the problem. Since this was from continuous recording, I'm assuming it doesn't happen on demand.

It looks like you edited a sketch, then finished the sketch edit, then the problem was seen in the RMB menu. I'm not seeing that result yet.

One possible explanation in some cases might be that the OP creates sketch without history and then turns on history to create features (see Attached).

One reason actual files are helpful in diagnosis...

I do not ever turn off project history... Posting a project here would be of no benefit, since whenever a project is closed and opened again the issue resolves by itself

This has been a transient bug for years. What you'll notice is the sketch stays highlighted in the browser and the timeline while editing and after closing the sketch and you have to use the workaround @g-andresen shows to clear the selection. Unfortunately this state is not saved so the only way to reproduce is just working with Fusion. Think it only happens while editing sketches rather than creating a new one.

For what its worth, I have also dealt with this, and the most consistent workaround for me is to select and then deselect the problematic sketch in the timeline. I had a similar thing happen with a body in the viewspace the other day which I had to reopen the document to fix, but I had never seen that before. I was also enabling and disabling the timeline a lot in that particular document, so I suspect it was unrelated.
