Project to surface along vector does not project complete profile

I am projecting a circle from the horizontal plane onto an inclined plane along the vertical direction.

In the first example the angle of incline is relatively less and the complete circle gets projected.

In the second example the angle of incline is more and the circle gets partially projected..

What is the reason for this unexpected behaviour?

Hi @san_stampings,

Thank you for posting and welcome to the community!

May I take a closer look at this behavior with your design file on my end so that I  can discuss this internally?

If you are okay with sharing your design, can you post a public link to the design in this thread?  You might like to send the link to me via email (kanehiko.saito@autodesk.com) as well!

This web page guides how to share a design file.

If you have any questions, please feel free to let me know!

Thanks.

Hi Kanehiko,

Thanks for reaching out..
The public link to the model is : https://a360.co/2lIU0x2

You can simulate the problem as follows:

1. On the 'Hole' sketch, modify the distance of 10 dia hole from origin.
2. When the distance is say 70 mm then the projection on inclined plan is ok.
3. When the distance is say 75 mm then only a portion of the circle is projected on the inclined plane.
4. When the distance is beyond 85 mm then there is no projection and instead an error is displayed. 'Project to surface failed. Please check the surface or vector'

Hi @san_stampings,

Thank you for sharing the model with the detail information!

I was able to recreate the behavior on my end.  I've logged a bug (internal ID: FUS-41399) with our development team to investigate this.

I will keep this thread updated as I have more information to share about the issue - thank you for bringing it to our attention!  Thank you for your patience.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Thanks.
