Program does not respond for JETSON 3D model

Hi,

I run Fusion 360 on HP OMEN with Geforce GTX1070 card and intel 8750 processor with 16G RAM and have huge issues with simple task as MOVE components.

https://a360.co/2FQ9vz3   is the model

If I try to move for example JETSON-NEW_ASM component, it does not respond for about a minute. Processor is quiet also GPU. No network.

I have no explanation and would like to fix it.

I uploaded latest drivers

@info4F99P , I am not seeing that kind of performance issue with my installation of Fusion.  Here is a screencast:

if you are seen the hang/poor performance on those same operations, can you record a screencast of what you are seeing?

Hi @info4F99P

Thanks for posting! This is a known performance issue - you are trying to move 1861 bodies simultaneously, which will put a large load on Fusion 360 and likely cause it to hang for some time. If the move command is going through after Fusion is unresponsive for only about a minute, I would call that a win.

What are you using the PCB model for? If the PCB is built of standard/ordered components and you are trying to visualize it in a mechanical assembly, you could simply use the outer box of the component for sizing and remove nearly all the detail.

I also notice that the 244-82180-1000-A01-07-31-15_ASM and 244-82180-1000-A03-10-12-15_ASM are both included in the JETSON-NEW_ASM component - separating these out into two components will reduce the load on the move command, you'll just need to perform it twice.

The resources below as give some tips on simplifying files like this:

I've also seen some past issues in which copying all the bodies into the top level component of the design and removing the subcomponents helps with this type of performance issue. One way to do this is to save a copy of the problem component in SAT format after right clicking it in your assembly and selecting "Save Copy As." Unfortunately this did not help much with later move commands in my tests, which indicates that this amount of data is at the limit of what Fusion can move simultaneously.

The development teams are always working to improve performance with large datasets like this and I've added your file as an example on their ticket. I appreciate you bringing this to my attention.

Hi Paul,

I'm having similar issues trying to use various PCBA models I'm working with.  The bulk of these are uploaded from STEP exports, some known Altium 18 exports, some not.  To me this seems like a Fusion issue that should be addressed in a better way than it currently is.

For instance, Solidworks supports lightweight representations of assemblies for cases like this, though to be honest, in my experience, I only needed lightweight for huge assemblies, much larger part count than what I am working with here.

Is this core performance issues something that is being addressed?  The current behavior makes using Fusion very difficult for those of us who have to work with PCBAs . . .

Thank you for your post.

I can see you only move small parts of the model, which works usually.

Here I send screenplay, I want you to see also initial startup after opening the file which takes quite a bit even the file I have is local.

The main issue is 0 response after move command for couple of minutes I stopped recording after a while, but Fusion still did not finish even after 5mins.

I understand I can simplify the model, but I needed all components there for this operation.

Still I find Fusion great tool, but this makes me crazy and unable to use it.

Robert

Screencast will be displayed here after you click Post.
