Profile Chain Selection option

I have been going through the Design Academy Learn Fusion 360 in 90 minutes lessons. In lesson 7 part 2 a lamp shade is being sculpted using the revolve tool. The lessons are using the old GUI and I am using the latest. I'm trying to make the lampshade and the video tells me to uncheck the Profile Chain Selection option, which doesn't exist as far as I know in the later GUI. The aim is to make a surface, but I can only make a solid. Patrick Meese posted on 07-04-2019 this exact problem but frustratingly did not provide his solution.

How do I make a surface, not a solid?

Thank you for any solution.

Hi,

1. show the menu for the tool that requires "Disable chain" in a screenshot

2. surface vs. solid

The golden interface that you are looking there is still in fusion. That is just a different platform which is surface,

Look at the tabs on the upper side of the screen. See? Solid, Surface, Sheet metal, Tools.

Select surface. You'll get to that interface. And, the thing you're finding "chaining" is also still there in the Surface revolve.

There are 2 form of all sketch based feature. 1. Solid (that you have been using) 2. Surface.

Great, thanks, managed that. I appreciate such a fast reply,  especially over the holidays.

I can't find the subdivide command now. The lesson showed the surface subdivided into many segments that can be manipulated. Is there a reference that shows the location of the commands in the new GUI compared to the old?

Once again, thank you for your time

Solid > Create > Create Form,

will take you to the Sculpting area, and those icons will be purple...
